Hong Kong Open (badminton)
The Hong Kong Open () is an annual badminton tournament held in Hong Kong since 1982, but it did not take place annually. It is organized by Hong Kong Badminton Association, and it became one of the Super Series tournaments in 2007. In 2008, Wang Chen became the first home player to win the Hong Kong Open title. Kowloon
Kowloon () is one of the areas of Hong Kong, three areas of Hong Kong, along with Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. It is an urban area comprising the Kowloon Peninsula and New Kowloon. Tian Qing
Tian Qing (; born 19 August 1986) is a Chinese badminton player specializing in doubles. Career Tian Qing started to practice badminton with her father Tian Jianyi who also a badminton coach in Anhua Sports School at aged 7. In 1998, she moved to Hunan Province Sports School and in 2004, she competed at the World Junior Championships and win gold in the girls' doubles event teamed-up with Yu Yang. In 2006, she joined the national team. In her early career at the national team, she was partnered with Pan Pan, and they participated in the 2009 World Championships, and 2010 Uber Cup. In 2010, she competed at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games in the mixed team and women's doubles event partnered with Zhao Yunlei, where she won two gold medals respectively. At the same year, she also competed in the mixed doubles event partnered with Tao Jiaming, and they were won the titles at the China Masters and China Open. The 2018 Hong Kong Open (officially known as the Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2018 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Hong Kong from 13 to 18 November 2018 and had a total prize of $400,000. BWF World Tour
The BWF World Tour is a Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles (men's and women's) and doubles (men's, women's and mixed). The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The BWF World Tour are divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, and Super 300 in order (part of the HSBC World Tour). One other category of tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation, aka BWF, is the international governing body for the sport of badminton approved by the International Olympic Committee. It was founded on 5 July 1934 as the International Badminton Federation with nine member nations: Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. In 1981, the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation. The 2007 BWF Super Series was the inaugural season of the BWF Super Series. It was held from January 16 with Malaysia Open and end on December 2, 2007. It was expected to end on December 23, 2007 with Super Series Finals; this event was postponed and later cancelled due to an uncertain circumstance. BWF Super Series
The BWF Super Series was a series of Badminton World Federation#Grade 2, Grade 2 badminton tournaments, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It was launched on December 14, 2006 and implemented in 2007 in badminton, 2007. Since 2011, the Super Series includes two levels of tournament, Super Series Premier and Super Series. A season of Super Series featured twelve tournaments around the world, including five of them classified as Super Series Premier. Super Series Premier tournament offers higher ranking point and higher minimum total prize money. Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Zhang Nan (badminton)
Zhang Nan (; born 1 March 1990) is a Chinese former professional badminton player who specializes in both men's and mixed doubles. He found much success in mixed doubles with his former partner Zhao Yunlei. They won gold in 2012 Summer Olympics, 3 golds in BWF World Championships in 2011, 2014 and 2015 and a gold at the 2014 Asian Games. Having won all major events as a pair, they are considered one of the most successful mixed doubles pairs of all time. Zhang Nan himself is considered to be one of the all-time greats of badminton. Having found huge success in mixed doubles with Zhao, Zhang partnered Fu Haifeng with whom he won gold in 2016 Summer Olympics.
