Aleksandr Usov (born 2 March 1976) is a Russian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. Usov won the silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2004 World Indoor Championships, together with teammates Dmitriy Forshev, Boris Gorban and Andrey Rudnitskiy. The next year, the relay team won the bronze medal at the 2005 European Indoor Athletics Championships, European Indoor Championships with Andrey Polukeyev, Usov, Forshev, and Aleksandr Broshchenko. His personal best time is 46.28 seconds, achieved in May 2003 in Tula, Russia, Tula. 400 Metres
The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course. In many countries, athletes previously competed in the 440-yard dash (402.336 m)—which is a quarter of a mile (1,760 yards) and was referred to as the "quarter-mile"—instead of the 400 m (437.445 yards), though this distance is now obsolete. Like other sprint disciplines, the 400 m involves the use of starting blocks. 4 X 400 Metres Relay
4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. The Shunga would add a horizontal line on top of the digit, and the Kshatrapa and Pallava evolved the digit to a point where the speed of writing was a secondary concern. The Arabs' 4 still had the early concept of the cross, but for the sake of efficiency, was made in one stroke by connecting the "western" end to the "northern" end; the "eastern" end was finished off with a curve. 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 10th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) were held in the Budapest Arena, Hungary between March 5 and March 7, 2004. Dmitriy Forshev (born 30 May 1976) is a Russian sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. Forshev won the silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 World Indoor Championships, together with teammates Boris Gorban, Andrey Rudnitskiy and Aleksandr Usov. Gorban won the silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2001 World Indoor Championships, establishing a national record of 3:04.82 minutes together with teammates Aleksandr Ladeyshchikov, Ruslan Mashchenko and Andrey Semyonov. 2005 European Indoor Athletics Championships
The 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, from Friday, 4 March to Sunday, 6 March 2005. This was the first edition to be held in an odd year since switching to the biennial format, so as not to occur in the same as the outdoor European Athletics Championships and also recently moved IAAF World Indoor Championships. To accommodate this change, there was a two-year gap since the previous edition. It also marked the last time that the 200 metres were contested at the event. Russia finished on top of the medal table with 17 medals including 9 gold and a clear lead over Sweden and France. The host nation Spain lost only to Russia on the number of medals but won only one gold and finished fifth overall. Andrey Andreevich Polukeyev (; born 13 May 1981) is a Russian former sprinter specializing in the 400 metres and the 9th World Athletics Indoor Championships bronze medallist in the 4 × 400 m relay. Polukeyev also won relay medals at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, European Athletics U23 Championships, and World University Games. Career Polukeyev reached his first Russian Athletics Championships final in 2002, placing 8th in the 400 m. He won the Russian U23 Athletics Championships in the same event the following year. At the 2003 European Athletics U23 Championships, Polukeyev competed in the 400 m and 4 × 400 m. He placed 5th in his 400 m heat but he did anchor the Russian 4 × 400 m team to the bronze medal.
