Al-Hawl Offensive
The 2015 al-Hawl offensive was an offensive launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) during the Syrian Civil War, in order to capture the strategic town of al-Hawl and the surrounding rural area, countryside from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The offensive consisted of separate operations in three different areas: Tell Brak (village), Tell Brak, al-Hawl, and the southern al-Hasakah city countryside. Background The offensive Al-Hawl The offensive was launched on 31 October 2015. During the first week of the offensive, SDF forces captured a number of villages and other positions from ISIL near Al-Hawl, and to the southeast of Al-Hasakah city. ISIL responded by detonating a number of Car bomb, VBIED's. One of those VBIED's targeted an SDF convoy, killing and wounding dozens of fighters. Adnan Abu Amjad
Adnan Abdul Aziz Ahmed (1977 – 29 August 2017), better known as Adnan Abu Amjad (), was the commander of the Manbij Military Council, active within the Syrian Democratic Forces in the Syrian Civil War. Adnan led his group, the Manbij Military Council and the Northern Sun Battalion, in every battle since its formation in 2014, including the Siege of Kobanî, the Tell Abyad offensive, the Tishrin Dam offensive, the al-Hawl offensive, the al-Shaddadi offensive, the Battle of Manbij, his hometown, where he freed his parents from ISIL rule in August 2016, and the Raqqa campaign, including the Battle of Raqqa, where he was killed in action on 29 August 2017. Bethnahrain Women's Protection Forces
The Bethnahrain Women's Protection Forces (; HSNB) is an all-female Assyrian military and police organization based in al-Qahtaniyah, al-Hasakah Governorate, Syria. HSNB was set up as a female brigade of the Syriac Military Council and assumes guard roles in areas where Assyrians reside. HSNB includes military & police forces. The police section of HSNB has offices in Gozarto, likewise for the military section, academies & military points. Syriac Military Council
The Syriac Military Council (, MFS; ) is an Assyrian people, Assyrian military organisation in Syria, part of the Syrian Democratic Forces. The establishment of the organisation was announced on 8 January 2013. According to the Syriac Military Council, the goal of the organisation is to stand up for the national rights of and to protect Assyrians in Syria. It operates mostly in the densely populated Assyrian areas of Al-Hasakah Governorate, and is affiliated to the Syriac Union Party (Syria), Syriac Union Party. Liwa Thuwar Al-Raqqa
Liwa Thuwar al-Raqqa () was a rebel group in the Syrian Civil War. It was formed in September 2012 in the Raqqa Governorate. Aligned with jihadist factions for its first years, at the end of 2015, it joined the Syrian Democratic Forces. During an interview by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi in 2015, Liwa Thuwar al-Raqqa's media director stated that the group wants a "civil society, civil democracy, democratic state". Northern Democratic Brigade
The Northern Democratic Brigade () is a Free Syrian Army unit that is closely allied to the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units, YPG and Women's Protection Units, YPJ in Afrin Region since 2014. Led by Abu Omar al-Idlibi, Absi Taha, Alexander Khalil, and Alexander Alaa, it also joined the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in November 2015. The initial members of the group originated from Jabal Zawiya in Idlib Governorate, Idlib, and it has recruited Arabs from Idlib, Aleppo, and other cities in northern Syria since allying with the YPG. Seljuq Brigade
The Seljuk Brigade (, ) is a Syrian Turkmen rebel group participating in the Syrian civil war, named after the Seljuk Turks. History The Seljuk Brigade was founded in early 2013 in the northern Aleppo Governorate by Colonel Talal Ali Silo and was temporary a part of the Suleyman Shah Brigade. It was initially based in the Turkmen village of al-Rai, before its capture by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in January 2014. People's Protection Units
The People's Defense Units (YPG), also called People's Protection Units, is a libertarian socialist US-backed Kurds in Syria, Kurdish militant group in Syria and the primary component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
