Afcons Infrastructure Limited is an Indian multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai. The company is involved in infrastructure EPC projects such as bridges, flyovers, metros, railway lines, tunnels, highways, ports and marine works, barrages, and oil and gas structures. It has been a part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group since 2000. History The company was founded in 1959 as Rodio Hazarat & Co, a joint venture between Rodio Foundation Engineering of Switzerland and Hazarat & Co of India. In the initial years, the company undertook foundation work of office buildings in Mumbai's then-business district Nariman Point. In 1976, the Swiss partner exited the joint venture by selling its stake to an employees-led consortium, owing to the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act legislation passed in 1973 which affected its business viability. East–West Metro Tunnel
East–West Metro Tunnel is an underwater river tunnel of Kolkata Metro in Kolkata, West Bengal. The river tunnel is constructed underneath Hooghly River. It is the biggest underwater river tunnel of India, which is made for metro rail service. The East–West Metro Tunnel length is and width is . A stretch of the tracks goes through a tunnel under the Hooghly River. The roof of the tunnel is about from the ground level. The tunnel was completed in 2021. Airoli Bridge
The Airoli Bridge is a bridge in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region of India. It was constructed to establish a direct road link between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Structure Afcons Infrastructure, a subsidiary of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, constructed the bridge. The bridge was made from 800 box girders. The 1.03 km bridge marked the development of the Airoli and Thane- Belapur belt. The MSRDC collects tolls on the bridge. The toll rates for small passenger cars is set at ₹40 & for Trucks & Buses s set at ₹130. Geographical significance A road link connecting Thane–Belapur road and Eastern Express Highway has been established by this bridge. Atal Tunnel
Atal Tunnel () is a road tunnel connecting Manali and Keylong. It helps in bypassing the Rohtang Pass, Himachal Pradesh in the eastern Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas. It carries two lanes of National Highway 3. It is the longest highway single-tube tunnel above in the world. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The tunnel reduces the travel time and overall distance between Manali and Keylong on the way to Leh. The route, which previously went through Gramphu, was long and took 5 to 6 hours in good conditions. Rajendra Setu, or Simaria Bridge, is a bridge across the Ganges that was the first to link the northern and southern portions of the state of Bihar. The location of the bridge was based on the work of M. Visvesvaraya, who was more than 90 years old at the time. In a wheelchair, he visited the bridge site on the special request of Bihar's chief minister, Shri Krishna Sinha. It was the first bridge over the Ganges to be built in independent India. The Kanpur Metro is a Rapid transit, mass rapid transit (MRT) system in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Cyrus Pallonji Mistry (4 July 1968 – 4 September 2022) was an Indian-born Irish billionaire businessman. He was the chairman of the Tata Group, an Indian business conglomerate, from 2012 to 2016.
