Adelaide University Union
YouX, officially the Adelaide University Union (AUU), is a Students' union, student union at the University of Adelaide in South Australia. It provides academic advocacy, welfare and counselling services to students free of charge, funds the student newspaper ''On Dit,'' and owns a number of commercial operations on campus. It also oversees the Students' Association of the University of Adelaide, Student Representative Council (SRC), an organisationally separate body responsible for Student activism, student political representation. It was founded in 1895 and since 1971 is recognised as a statutory corporation under the legislation governing the University of Adelaide. As of 2024, there are over 175 clubs and societies under the umbrella of the union. A caretaker government, also known as a caretaker regime, is a temporary ''ad hoc'' government that performs some governmental duties and functions in a country until a regular government is elected or formed. Depending on specific practice, it consists of either randomly selected members of parliament or outgoing members until their dismissal. Elliott Frank Johnston (26 February 1918 – 25 August 2011) was an Australian jurist and communist activist. As a judge of the Supreme Court of South Australia (1983–1988), he was the only communist to serve as an Australian judge. He is also remembered as the second and final Commissioner of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (1989–91). Christopher John Sumner (born 17 April 1943) is an Australian lawyer and former politician who is the longest serving Attorney-General in the State of South Australia. He was for 19 years a member of the South Australian Legislative Council for the Australian Labor Party and led the party in that House in government and opposition.
