Autoimmune Regulator
The autoimmune regulator (AIRE) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''AIRE'' gene. It is a 13Kilo-base pair, kbp gene on chromosome 21q22.3 that encodes 545 amino acids. AIRE is a transcription factor expressed in the Thymus#Medulla, medulla (inner part) of the thymus. It is part of the Central tolerance, mechanism which eliminates self-reactive T cells that would cause autoimmune disease. It exposes T cells to normal, healthy proteins from all parts of the body, and T cells that react to those proteins are destroyed. Each T cell recognizes a specific antigen when it is presented in complex with a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule by an Antigen-presenting cell, antigen presenting cell. This recognition is accomplished by the T-cell receptor, T cell receptors expressed on the cell surface. T cells receptors are generated by V(D)J recombination, randomly shuffled gene segments which results in a highly diverse population of T cells—each with a unique antig ... Chicago VII
''Chicago VII'' is the sixth studio album by American Rock music, rock band Chicago (band), Chicago. It was released on March 11, 1974 by Columbia Records. It is notable for being their first double album of new material since 1971's ''Chicago III'' and remains their final studio release in that format. It features session percussionist Laudir de Oliveira, who would become a full-fledged band member for the release of ''Chicago VIII'' the following year. Background While touring in support of ''Chicago VI'' in 1973, the band began getting restless and started integrating some lengthy jazz instrumentals into their sets. While audiences' reactions varied, Chicago greatly enjoyed the experience, decided (after years of talking about it) to record a pure jazz-influenced set of tracks, and headed straight to producer James William Guercio's Caribou Ranch studios to cut their ambitious new album. While the sessions began well, there was soon dissension within the group about the jaz ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

War Of The Spanish Succession
The War of the Spanish Succession was a European great power conflict fought between 1701 and 1714. The immediate cause was the death of the childless Charles II of Spain in November 1700, which led to a struggle for control of the Spanish Empire between supporters of the French House of Bourbon, Bourbons and the Austrian House of Habsburg, Habsburgs. Charles had named as his heir Philip V of Spain, Philip of Anjou, a grandson of Louis XIV of France, whose claim was backed by Kingdom of France, France and most of Habsburg Spain, Spain. His Habsburg rival, Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor, Archduke Charles, was supported by the Grand Alliance (League of Augsburg), Grand Alliance, whose primary members included Habsburg monarchy, Austria, the Dutch Republic, and Kingdom of Great Britain, Great Britain. Significant related conflicts include the Great Northern War (1700–1721) and Queen Anne's War (1702–1713). Although by 1701 Spain was no longer the predominant European power, ... Siege Of Aire
A siege () . is a military blockade of a city, or fortress, with the intent of conquering by attrition, or by well-prepared assault. Siege warfare (also called siegecrafts or poliorcetics) is a form of constant, low-intensity conflict characterized by one party holding a strong, static, defensive position. Consequently, an opportunity for negotiation between combatants is common, as proximity and fluctuating advantage can encourage diplomacy. A siege occurs when an attacker encounters a city or fortress that cannot be easily taken by a quick assault, and which refuses to surrender. Sieges involve surrounding the target to block provision of supplies and reinforcement or escape of troops (a tactic known as "investment"). This is typically coupled with attempts to reduce the fortifications by means of siege engines, artillery bombardment, mining (also known as sapping), or the use of deception or treachery to bypass defenses. Failing a military outcome, sieges can often be deci ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
