AG für Akkumulatoren- und Automobilbau was a Prussian German automobile manufacturer based in Wedding (Berlin), Ofenerstrasse and founded by Alex Fischer who built electric powered automobiles from 1919 to 1922 under the brand name AAA (not related to the French brand of the same name). History From 1922, the electric vehicles were given the brand name Elektric. In the same year, the company started the production of small cars with gasoline built-in engines. Wedding (, ) is a locality in the borough of Mitte, Berlin, Germany. It was a separate borough in the north-western inner city until it was fused with Tiergarten and Mitte in Berlin's 2001 administrative reform. The Alfi was a German automobile brand built between 1921 and 1925, and again between 1927 and 1928. The Alfi was built in Berlin (then in Prussia), initially by the electrical company AG für Akkumulatoren- und Automobilbau (AAA) (), which later also changed its name to Alfi. First generation The company had been responsible for the AAA line of electric cars and vans which were supplied in large numbers to the German postal service. In 1922, when the company decided to move to engine driven cars, it changed its name to Alfi, derived from the owner's name, Alex Fischer. The first Alfi model had a flat-twin engine. The Aktiengesellschaft für Automobilbau (= corporation for automotive engineering, abbreviation A.G.A. or AGA) was a German producer of cars in the 1920s in the German capital of Berlin (Prussia). The company was founded as ''Autogen-Gas-Akkumulator-AG'' in Berlin in 1909 as the German subsidiary of the Swedish company Aktiebolaget Gasaccumulator, since 2000 a part of the German Linde group. During World War I the company produced parts for machine-guns, and had a new factory constructed on Herzbergstraße in the suburb of Lichtenberg. The company was rebranded as ''Aktiengesellschaft für Automobilbau'' in 1920, but AGA was refounded at the same time, so that both gas and automotive versions of the company existed simultaneously.
