A.D. Santa Bárbara
Asociación Deportiva Santa Bárbara is a Costa Rican football club, currently playing in the Tercera División. They are based in Santa Bárbara de Heredia and play their home games at the Estadio Carlos Alvarado Villalobos. History Founded in 1943, ''Club Sport Barbareño'' represented Santa Bárbara in the first division of the national football league. Between 1962 and 1975, they played in the third division before winning the title in 1976 and subsequent promotion to the Second Division. The team changed its name to ''Asociación Deportiva Barbareña'' in 1984. In 1997 they won promotion to the Costa Rican Primera División and made their debut in the top tier against San Carlos on 17 August 1997. Santa Bárbara De Heredia
Santa Bárbara is one of the six districts that make up the canton of Santa Bárbara, Costa Rica. The district of Santa Bárbara is commonly referred to as ''Santa Bárbara de Heredia'', and is the seat of the municipality of Santa Bárbara, and therefore awarded the title of city. It is an important commercial and transportation hub, approximately seven miles from the provincial capital of Heredia and five miles from the provincial capital of Alajuela. History Before the Spanish settlers came, Santa Bárbara was originally occupied by the Huetares, an indigenous tribe. The Huetare King, Cacique Garabito, dominated the area. Mario Alberto Kempes Chiodi (, ; born 15 July 1954) is an Argentine former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football)#Striker, striker or Attacking Midfielder, attacking midfielder. A prolific goalscorer, he finished as La Liga's Pichichi Trophy, top goalscorer twice with Valencia CF, Valencia where he amassed 116 goals in 184 league games. Puntarenas () is a city in the Puntarenas Province, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. As the seat of the Municipality of Puntarenas canton, it is awarded the title of city, which comprises the Puntarenas, Chacarita and El Roble districts.
