2020 Washington Lieutenant Gubernatorial Election
The 2020 Washington lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 3, 2020, to elect the lieutenant governor of Washington concurrently with the 2020 Washington elections. The top-two primary was held on August 4, and Democrats Denny Heck and Marko Liias advanced to the general election, which Heck won. Incumbent Cyrus Habib surprised the state by announcing he was foregoing a run for re-election in order to join the Society of Jesus. The position was of special importance due to speculation that the incumbent Governor, Jay Inslee could have been appointed to a position in a Democratic Presidential Cabinet after winning his third term. Washington's 21st legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. The district is in southwest Snohomish County, including all or part of Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mukilteo. This mostly suburban district is represented by state senator Marko Liias and state representatives Strom Peterson (position 1) and Lillian Ortiz-Self (position 2), all Democrats. Washington's 28th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It is in Pierce County, and contains a bit of Tacoma, and the cities of Fircrest, University Place, Lakewood, Steilacoom, and DuPont. It also contains Ketron Island, Anderson Island, and McNeil Island. Richard Walter Muri (born November 30, 1953) is an American politician. He is the appointed Mayor of the Town of Steilacoom after longtime Mayor Ron Lucas stepped down for health reasons in March 2021, before passing away just weeks later. He is a Republican former member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 28th legislative district. John Paul Hammerschmidt
John Paul Hammerschmidt (May 4, 1922 – April 1, 2015) was an American politician from the state of Arkansas. A Republican, Hammerschmidt served thirteen terms in the United States House of Representatives for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district, located in the northwestern quadrant of the state. He served from 1967 until his retirement in 1993. In 1974, a nationally Democratic year, he secured his fifth term by defeating the then 28-year-old Bill Clinton. Ann Davison Sattler is an American attorney and politician serving as the Seattle City Attorney. She was elected in November 2021. Career Davison had practiced law for 15 years prior to being elected Seattle city attorney. In 2019, Davison unsuccessfully challenged Debora Juarez, an incumbent member of the Seattle City Council. She had run on a platform of removing homeless encampments from public areas and constructing emergency shelters to house them. A former Democrat, in 2020, Davison left the Democratic Party to became a Republican. Bradley Scott Owen (born May 23, 1950) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 15th Lieutenant Governor of Washington from 1997 to 2017. King County Executive
The King County Executive is the highest elected official representing the government of King County, Washington. The post was established with the implementation of the Home Rule Charter for King County on November 5, 1968. Previously the powers of the county executive were vested in a three-member County Commission, which with the implementation of the Home Rule Charter in 1969 ceased to exist. The county executive is elected every four years and the office is nonpartisan. The first county executive was John Spellman, from 1969 to 1981.
