Ann Davison (politician)
Ann Davison Sattler is an American attorney and politician serving as the Seattle City Attorney. She was elected in November 2021. Career Davison had practiced law for 15 years prior to being elected Seattle city attorney. In 2019, Davison unsuccessfully challenged Debora Juarez, an incumbent member of the Seattle City Council. She had run on a platform of removing homeless encampments from public areas and constructing emergency shelters to house them. A former Democrat, in 2020, Davison left the Democratic Party to became a Republican. She made an unsuccessful bid for lieutenant governor of Washington, finishing third in the nonpartisan primary with 12 percent of the vote, behind Democrats Denny Heck and Marko Liias. She promoted her status as an ex-Democrat, associating with the WalkAway campaign of Democrats-turned-Republicans. Seattle City Attorney
The Seattle City Attorney is a non-partisan elected official in Seattle, Washington whose job is to "prosecute people for misdemeanor offenses, defend the city against lawsuits, and gives legal advice to the city". Since 2022, the position has been held by Ann Davison. WalkAway Campaign
The #WalkAway campaign is a social-media campaign that was launched ahead of the United States 2018 mid-term elections with the stated purpose of encouraging liberals to leave the Democratic Party. The campaign, which also organized events to support Donald Trump, was noted and criticized for its astroturfing methods and its false narrative that there was a popular movement of people leaving the party. In 2021, the group's founder, Brandon Straka, a hairstylist from New York City, was charged with and convicted of participating in the 2021 United States Capitol attack. Following this, the group's Facebook page, which had more than half a million followers, was closed for violations of the site's terms of service.
