2025–26 Liga I
The 2025–26 Liga I (also known as the 2025–26 SuperLiga Romania for sponsorship reasons) will be the 108th season of Liga I, the top football league in Romania. FCSB are the two-time defending champions having won their 28th top flight title, the previous season. Overview 16 teams will compete in the league – the thirteen teams from the previous season, two teams promoted from Liga II directly and one team promoted via play-off. Teams promoted from Liga II Csíkszereda Miercurea Ciuc became the first team to be promoted after fellow promotion contenders Metaloglobus București earned a draw against Reșița on 25 April 2025. The result means Csíkszereda Miercurea Ciuc will compete in the top flight for the first time in their history. Argeș Pitești became the second team to be promoted on 6 May 2025 after defeating Reșița in matchweek 8 of the promotion round. Liga I
Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently 25th in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. AFC Unirea Slobozia
Asociația Fotbal Club Unirea 04 Slobozia, (), commonly known as Unirea Slobozia or simply as Unirea, is a Romanian professional football club based in Slobozia, Ialomița County, which competes in the Liga I, the top tier of the Romanian football. The team was founded in 1955 and reestablished in 2004, being for the most part of its history a participant in the third division of the Romanian football.
