FC Dinamo București, commonly known as Dinamo București () or simply Dinamo, is a Romanian professional association football, football club based in Bucharest that competes in the Liga I. Founded in 1948 as the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Romania), Ministry of Internal Affairs, following the merger of Unirea Tricolor București, Unirea Tricolor and Maccabi București, Ciocanul, Dinamo București has spent all but one year of its history in the top tier (Liga I) of the Romanian football league system, Romanian league system. Domestically, it is one of the two most successful clubs in the country, having won 18 Liga I titles, 13 Cupa României, two Supercupa României, and one Cupa Ligii. Liga I
Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently 25th in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Teohari Georgescu
Teohari Georgescu (January 31, 1908 – December 31, 1976) was a Romanian statesman and a high-ranking member of the Romanian Communist Party. Early life Born in Chitila, near Bucharest, he was the third of seven children of Constantin and Aneta Georgescu. Georgescu, whose formal education ended after the fourth grade, began his career as an assistant in his father's store. In 1923, he was sent to the main printing house in Bucharest, Cartea Românească, to apprentice as a typesetter. Three years later, his father now dead, he joined the Gutenberg printers' union and secretly began to read Communist leaflets. He soon joined the Communist party, then illegal. Underground activity Georgescu became a member of the party's Central Committee and its secretariat, participating in secret meetings, organising strikes, and spreading leaflets. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania () is one of the eighteen ministries of the Government of Romania. From 23 August 1944 to 18 March 1975 the ministry held the title of ''Minister of Internal Affairs'', between 2004 and 2007, held the title of ''Minister of Administration and Interior'', and since April 2007, ''Minister of Interior and Administrative Reform''. U Craiova 1948 Club Sportiv, commonly known as Universitatea Craiova (), CS U Craiova, or simply U Craiova, is a Romanian professional football club based in Craiova, Dolj County. It competes in the Liga I, the top tier of the Romanian league system. Initially founded in 1948 as the football section of the ''CSU Craiova'' sports club, it was part of the club until 1991, when its birth in the league championship was taken by FC U Craiova following privatisation. The Eternal derby (), also called the Romanian derby ( or ) or the Great derby (), is a football match between Bucharest rivals ''FCSB'' and '' Dinamo București''. The game is usually among—if not the most—viewed and attended of the Liga I season. Fotbal Club FCSB (), formerly named and still sometimes referred to as FC Steaua București, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the Liga I, the top flight of the Romanian football league system. The original ''Steaua București'' football team was founded in 1947 and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence, through the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club. In 1998, the football department and its facilities were separated from the latter and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, leading to one of the shareholders acquiring full ownership five years later. The Arcul de Triumf National Rugby Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. Being constructed on the site of the former stadium, it mostly hosts home matches of the Romania national rugby union team and FC Dinamo București. It was originally planned to host games at the 2021 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, but the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Arena () is a retractable roof football stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It opened in 2011 on the site of the original National Stadium, which was demolished between 2007 and 2008. The stadium hosts major football matches including home matches of the Romania National Football Team, and usually Romanian Cup Final. With 55,634 seats, it is the largest stadium in Romania. Designed by Gerkan, Marg and Partners, the stadium was built by German firm Max Bögl and Italian firm Astaldi. The stadium has a retractable roof which covers the playing surface. The Dinamo Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It is used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of Dinamo București since its inception and until 2022, when the stadium didn't receive the license to host matches from Liga I and Liga II. History The stadium was built in 1951. First match played here was Dinamo – Locomotiva Timișoara 1–0, on 14 October 1951. In 2001, floodlights were added, and in 2006 a major renovation of the stadium began, enlarging the VIP section, and raising the capacity of the Tribune 2 stand. However, due to lack of funding the renovation has still not been completed. There are now plans to build a new arena, but administrative problems make progress very slow-going.
