2024–25 Belgian Division 2
The 2024–25 Belgian Division 2 is scheduled to be the ninth season of the division in its current format, placed at the fourth-tier of football in Belgium. Team changes From this season on, the two VV divisions were reduced from 18 to 16 teams, resulting in four fewer teams entering the division than leaving it. Belgian Division 2
The Belgian Division 2, commonly referred to as simply Tweede Afdeling (in Dutch) or Division 2 (in French) is the fourth-highest division in the Football in Belgium, Belgian football Belgian football league system, league system, one level below the Belgian National Division 1. Eendracht Termien
The Eendracht is a former tidal branch of river Scheldt that has been channelised to form the northern stretch of the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. It flows from the Zoommeer lake (formerly part of the Oosterschelde) near Bergen op Zoom past the town and eponymous island of Tholen towards the former island of Sint Philipsland, where it used to end in the Krabbenkreek estuary. The passage to the estuary has been closed off, however, and an additional stretch of canal was dug to connect the Eendracht to the Krammer lake, itself a former estuary closed off from the sea during the Delta Works. 2023–24 Belgian National Division 1
The 2023–24 Belgian National Division 1 was the eighth season of the third-tier football league. The league began on 30 August 2023 and ended on 12 May 2024. This was the final season in the league's current format and from the following season, it split into a Flemish (VV) and Francophone (ACFF) division. Team changes Out Six teams moved to another level: * Patro Eisden Maasmechelen was promoted as champions of the previous season. * RFC Liège and Francs Borains took up the two remaining promotion spots and moved up to the 2023–24 Challenger Pro League as well. * Ninove, Rupel Boom and Mandel United were relegated after finishing in the bottom three positions. Belgian Provincial Leagues
The Belgian Provincial leagues are the lower leagues for Belgian football. Until 2016, these were at levels 5-8 in the Belgian football league system however as part of the reform an extra level was created causing the provincial leagues to drop to levels 6-9. The provincial leagues are divided into 9 regional league systems (one for each province, but Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant are merged and contain also the football teams from the Brussels Capital Region). Each league system is itself divided into 4 levels (except for Luxembourg where there are only 3). The number of leagues at each level depends on the province, but every province must have only one league at the top level. The best teams from the 9 first divisions can promote to the Belgian Division 3, the fifth and lowest level in the national leagues (either directly, or after playoff matches).
