2023–24 Chicago Blackhawks Season
The 2023–24 Chicago Blackhawks season was the 98th season (97th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. The Blackhawks were led by second-year head coach Luke Richardson. This was the first season since 2006–07 that Jonathan Toews was not on the roster as his contract expired at the end of the previous season. In addition, it was the first full-season since that same year without Patrick Kane after he was traded to the New York Rangers in February 2023. On March 9, 2024, the Blackhawks became the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention following a 4–1 loss to the Washington Capitals and a 5–3 win by the Vegas Golden Knights against the Detroit Red Wings. Two days later, Connor Bedard scored his 20th goal of the season, making him as the first Blackhawks player to hit the 20-goal mark at 18 years old since Eddie Olczyk did it in the 1984–85 season. Central Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2020–21 realignment. Petr Mrázek (; born 14 February 1992) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the fifth round, 141st overall, by the Red Wings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, with whom he spent the first portion of his NHL career. He also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks. Drew Commesso
Drew Commesso (born July 19, 2002) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2020 NHL entry draft. Playing career Youth Commesso competed for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. College Commesso played for the Boston University Terriers, where he was the starting goaltender. He was selected in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. 1984–85 Chicago Black Hawks Season
The 1984–85 Chicago Black Hawks season was the 59th season of the Hawks' existence. Offseason Long-time goalie Tony Esposito retired from the team after a 16-year career in the NHL. Esposito had been with the Black Hawks for 15 of those years, appearing in 873 games, and earning a 418-302-147 record with a 2.93 GAA and 74 shutouts. On June 9, the Black Hawks traded away goaltender Bob Janecyk, their first round, sixth overall pick, as well as their third and fourth round draft picks in the 1984 NHL entry draft to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the Kings first round, third overall draft pick and their fourth round pick in the draft. Eddie Olczyk
Edward Walter Olczyk Jr. (; born August 16, 1966) is an American sportscaster and former professional ice hockey player. He spent 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), playing as a center for the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Olczyk was also the head coach of the Penguins from June 2003 to December 2005. Olczyk moved into broadcasting in his post-playing career, and currently provides commentary for '' NHL on TNT'' and for Seattle Kraken games on the Kraken Hockey Network (KHN). The 2023–24 Detroit Red Wings season was the 98th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. It was the Red Wings' seventh season at Little Caesars Arena. This was the Red Wings' second season under head coach Derek Lalonde. The Red Wings played two games on November 16 and 17 in Stockholm at the Avicii Arena as part of the NHL Global Series.
