2023–24 Basketball Champions League
The 2023–24 Basketball Champions League was the 8th season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), the premier European professional basketball competition for clubs launched by FIBA. The season began on 17 October 2023 and ended with the championship game on 28 April 2024. Telekom Baskets Bonn were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Peristeri in the quarter-finals. The Štark Arena in Belgrade hosted the Final Four and the championship game, the second time the competition had a neutral venue for its conclusion. Unicaja won its first Champions League title following their win over Lenovo Tenerife in the final. As champions, Unicaja also qualified for the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The Basketball Champions League (BCL), also commonly known as the FIBA Champions League, is an annual professional basketball competition for European sports club, clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the European professional club basketball system, top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Clubs qualify for the competition mostly based on performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. Although exceptional, some teams can be Wild card (sports), wildcarded. The 2022–23 Basketball Champions League was the 7th season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), the premier European Professional sports, professional basketball competition for Sports club, clubs launched by FIBA. The season began on 3 October 2022 and ended 14 May 2023 with the championship game. Telekom Baskets Bonn defeated Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., Hapoel Jerusalem in the final of the 2023 Basketball Champions League Final Four, Final Four, which was played in the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena in Málaga. Bonn became the first German club to win the Basketball Champions League title. The Basketball Champions League rankings are the competition's criteria for ordering teams and leagues according to their performance with the aim to give an objective process for determining the participation of clubs each season. Ranking calculation The clubs receive 2 points for a win and no points for a defeat from the regular season and the following stages. Bonus points are added to the number of points scored in a season. Since the 2020–21 season, 3 points were awarded instead of 2 points for a regular season win due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the change of competition format. 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup
The 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 34th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The tournament was hosted at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for a second consecutive year under a three-year agreement with the Singaporean government. It was the second time the tournament was hosted in Asia. For the first time in competition history, a team from Oceania is included and five continents represented. Franca were the defending champions but will not be able to defend their title as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2023–24 BCL Americas season. The 2024 Basketball Champions League Final Four, also known as the 2024 BCL Final Four, is the concluding tournament of the 2023–24 Basketball Champions League.
