The 2022–23 Basketball Champions League was the 7th season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), the premier European Professional sports, professional basketball competition for Sports club, clubs launched by FIBA. The season began on 3 October 2022 and ended 14 May 2023 with the championship game. Telekom Baskets Bonn defeated Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., Hapoel Jerusalem in the final of the 2023 Basketball Champions League Final Four, Final Four, which was played in the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena in Málaga. Bonn became the first German club to win the Basketball Champions League title. As the winners, Bonn automatically qualified for the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup (Singapore), 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. Lenovo Tenerife were the defending champions, but lost in the semi-finals by Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., Hapoel Jerusalem. Basketball Champions League
The Basketball Champions League (BCL), also commonly known as the FIBA Champions League, is an annual professional basketball competition for European sports club, clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the European professional club basketball system, top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Clubs qualify for the competition mostly based on performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. Although exceptional, some teams can be Wild card (sports), wildcarded. Each season consists of 32 teams. The inaugural season was held in 2016–17 Basketball Champions League, 2016–17 and since then five different clubs won the competition. 2022–23 EuroCup Basketball
The 2022–23 EuroCup Basketball season was the 21st season of Euroleague Basketball's secondary level professional club basketball tournament. It is the 15th season since it was renamed from the ULEB Cup to the EuroCup, and the seventh and final season under the title sponsorship name of 7DAYS. The season began on 11 October 2022 and ended 3 May 2023. Gran Canaria defeated Türk Telekom in the final, which was played at the Gran Canaria Arena in Las Palmas, to win their first EuroCup title. As winners, Gran Canaria automatically qualified for the 2023–24 EuroLeague. However, Gran Canaria gave up their spot in the league due to financial reasons. The defending champions were Virtus Bologna, who were unable to defend their title as they played in the 2022–23 EuroLeague. BC Prometey
BC Prometey (), also known as Prometey Slobozhanske, was a Ukrainian basketball club based in Slobozhanske and Kamianske. It played in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague, the highest tier of basketball in Ukraine, from 2019 to 2022. From 2022 to 2024, the team was based in Riga and played in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. History The team was founded as Sports Club Prometey in September 2018, by Volodymyr Dubynsky and Pavlo Chukhno. The plans were to develop a basketball and volleyball team. The 2021–22 FIBA Europe Cup was the seventh season of the FIBA Europe Cup, a European professional basketball competition for clubs, that was launched by FIBA. The Basketball Champions League rankings are the competition's criteria for ordering teams and leagues according to their performance with the aim to give an objective process for determining the participation of clubs each season. Ranking calculation The clubs receive 2 points for a win and no points for a defeat from the regular season and the following stages. Bonus points are added to the number of points scored in a season. Since the 2020–21 season, 3 points were awarded instead of 2 points for a regular season win due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the change of competition format. The 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 33rd edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The tournament was hosted in the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The 2023 Basketball Champions League (BCL) Final Four was the 7th Basketball Champions League tournament and the 5th in the format of Final Four. It was the concluding phase of the 2022–23 Basketball Champions League season. It was the first time the tournament was held in Málaga. The championship was won by Telekom Baskets Bonn, who became the first German BCL champions. They defeated runners-up Hapoel Jerusalem in the final.
