2022–23 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 2022–23 Atlanta Hawks season was the 74th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 55th in Atlanta. On February 21, 2023, the Hawks fired Nate McMillan, who spent three seasons with the team. Joe Prunty was named the interim head coach until Quin Snyder was hired. The team clinched the seventh seed in the 2023 NBA playoffs on April 11, 2023, in the NBA play-in tournament, following a win over the Miami Heat, who finished 7th in the regular season. However, they lost in the First Round to the Boston Celtics in six games. As of 2024, this season marked the last time the Hawks made the playoffs. Nate McMillan
Nathaniel McMillan (born August 3, 1964) is an American basketball coach and former player who serves as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He coached the Seattle SuperSonics from 2000 to 2005, the Portland Trail Blazers from 2005 to 2012, and the Indiana Pacers from 2016 to 2020. Nate served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks in 2021, before becoming the head coach from 2021 to 2023. He spent his entire 12-year NBA playing career with the SuperSonics, then served as an assistant coach for one-and-a-half years and as head coach for almost five years. Dejounte Dashaun Murray ( ; born September 19, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played one season of college basketball for the Washington Huskies, where he earned second-team all-conference honors in the Pac-12 as a freshman in 2015–16. Nickey Maxwell Van Exel (born November 27, 1971) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who last served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
