2022 US Open – Women's Singles
Iga Świątek defeated Ons Jabeur in the final, 6–2, 7–6(7–5) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 US Open. It was her first US Open title and third major title overall. Świątek was the first player since Angelique Kerber in 2016 to win multiple majors in a season, having also won the 2022 French Open. She became the first Polish woman in the Open Era to reach the US Open quarterfinals and beyond. Świątek was the youngest woman to win three majors since Maria Sharapova in 2008. Emma Raducanu was the defending champion, but lost in the first round to Alizé Cornet. Kim Clijsters defeated Mary Pierce in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2005 US Open. It was her first major singles title, following four runner-up finishes in major finals. Svetlana Kuznetsova was the defending champion, but was defeated by Ekaterina Bychkova in the first round. Irina-Camelia Begu (born 26 August 1990) is a Romanian tennis player. She reached a career-high WTA ranking, WTA singles ranking of world No. 22 , in August 2016.
