The 2021β22 Sydney Thunder season was the eleventh in Sydney Thunder, the team's history. Coached by Trevor Bayliss, the Thunder entered 2021β22 Big Bash League season, BBL11 placing in fourth in 2020β21 Big Bash League season, BBL10. The Sydney Thunder is an Australian franchise professional cricket team, competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League. Along with the Sydney Sixers, the Thunder is the successor to the Speed Blitz Blues, New South Wales Blues which played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The team's home ground is Sydney Showground Stadium. Manuka Oval is a sporting venue in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It is located in Griffith, Australian Capital Territory, Griffith, in the area of that suburb known as Manuka, Australian Capital Territory, Manuka. Manuka Oval has a seating capacity of 13,550 people and an overall capacity of 16,000 people, although this is lower for some sports depending on the configuration used. The area on which the ground is situated has been used for sport since the early 20th century, but was only enclosed in 1929. Qais Ahmad Kamawal (; born 15 August 2000) is an Afghan cricketer. He made his Test debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in September 2019.
