2021–2022 Language Movement in Jharkhand is a language movement organized on 2021 in Jharkhand, which is still going on in 2022. The people's demand was expressed to protect the local language and to prevent the aggression of other languages on the local language. Local language rights activists in Dhanbad and Bokaro protested against the inclusion of Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili languages in the state government's list of regional languages for Dhanbad and Bokaro, and launched a series of movements under the banner of ''Jharkhandi Bhasa Bachao Sangharsh Samiti''. On 30 January 2022, Local language right activists making a 50- km long human chain from Telmachcho to Chandankiyari in Bokaro with intensely protests. Bokaro, Jharkhand
Bokaro, officially known as Bokaro Steel City (), is a large and planned city in Jharkhand, India. It is the fourth most populous city in the state and one of the first planned cities of India started in late 1960's. Bokaro is the administrative headquarters of Bokaro district. The city is located on the banks of Garga River and on the fringes of Bokaro river and is surrounded by hill ranges at Giridih and Ramgarh districts. It is one of the most peaceful cities in India. Magahi Language
Magahi (), also known as Magadhi (), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal states of eastern India, and in the Terai region of Nepal. Magadhi Prakrit was the ancestor of Magahi, from which the latter's name derives. It has a very rich and old tradition of folk songs and stories. Maithili Language
Maithili ( , ) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in parts of India and Nepal. It is native to the Mithila region, which encompasses parts of the eastern Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand as well as Nepal's Koshi Province, Koshi and Madhesh Provinces. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. It is the second most commonly spoken native languages of Nepal, Nepalese language constitutionally registered as one of the fourteen provincial official languages of Nepal. Hemant Soren
Hemant Soren (born 10 August 1975) is an Indian politician who is serving as the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand since 4 July 2024. He previously held the office from 2019 to 2024 and from 2013 to 2014. He is also the president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a regional party. Soren has represented the Barhait constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly since 2014 and previously represented Dumka twice — from 2019 to 2020 and from 2009 to 2014. He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2010 to 2013, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019, and a member of the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand from 2009 to 2010. Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000 was a law passed by the parliament of India in 2000. Loksabha and Rajya sabha passed the bill on 2 and 11 August respectively and on 15 November 2000, which enabled creation of Jharkhand State out of Bihar. The law was introduced by the NDA government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee to fulfil an election promise.
