Nemzeti Bajnokság II
The NB II, currently known as the Merkantil Bank Liga for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of Hungarian football. At the end of the 2004–05 season, the tournament format was changed from one division of 14 teams to two divisions: ''Keleti'' (Eastern) and ''Nyugati'' (Western), each with 16 teams, though now it's just one league table with 16 teams as of the 2024–25 season. The champion and the runner-up will ascend to the first division while the two lowest teams in NB II are relegated to NB III. Format On 2 March 2017, the Hungarian Football Federation announced that the number of the teams in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II will not be reduced to 12. Budafoki Munkás Testedző Egyesület is a Hungarian football club from the town of Budafok, Budapest, Hungary. The club currently plays in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II. History The club was founded in 1912 as Világosság Football Club. At that time, Budafok was not part of Budapest; it joined the capital city only in 1950, along with other towns such as Újpest and Kispest. Budafok mostly played in the second division of Hungarian football hierarchy, the Nemzeti Bajnokság II between World War I and World War II. However, the club got promoted and debuted in the 1945–46 season of the Hungarian League, and finished ninth. The manager of the club in the top division was the legendary Gusztáv Sebes. After the fall of Communism, there was a high risk that the club would be dissolved just like many other clubs in Hungary. At that time, Hungarovin, the wine-producing company financed the club. BFC Siófok
Bodajk FC Siófok, generally shortened to BFC Siófok, is a Hungarian football club based in Siófok, a small town on the shores of Lake Balaton. The club was founded in 1921 as ''Siófok SE''. The word ''Bodajk'' in the club's name stems from a merger with Bodajk FC in 2005. The colours of the club are yellow and blue. BFC Siófok plays its home matches in the Révész Géza utcai Stadion which has a capacity of 10,500. In the Hungarian cup final of 1984, BFC Siófok defeated Rába Vasas ETO Gyõr, 2–1 and thus achieved its only major success. Nyíregyháza Spartacus is a professional football club from Nyíregyháza, Hungary. Formed in 1928, it has had brief stints in the Nemzeti Bajnokság III. Szombathelyi Haladás (), is a Hungarian football club based in Szombathely. ''Haladás'' is the Hungarian word for ''progress''.
