2019 Moto2 Season
The 2019 FIM Moto2 World Championship was a part of the 71st Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. Francesco Bagnaia was the reigning series champion but he was unable to defend his title as he joined the series' premier class, the 2019 MotoGP World Championship, MotoGP. Álex Márquez became the Moto2 World Champion of 2019 seeing for the second time both Marquez brothers claiming championships in the same year in their respective classes with Marc Márquez winning his 6th premier class title. Despite finishing the final race in Valencia outside the points, Marquez secured his title with over ten podium finishes with five of them in 1st place securing his championship ahead of Brad Binder by three points. The International Motorcycling Federation (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) or (FIM) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. It represents 123 national motorcycle federations that are divided into six continental unions. Andrea Locatelli (born 16 October 1996 in Alzano Lombardo) is an Italian motorcycle racer competing in the Superbike World Championship for Yamaha. He was the 2020 Supersport world champion. Somkiat Chantra (; born 15 December 1998) is a Thai Grand Prix motorcycle racer who is competing in MotoGP for Idemitsu Honda LCR Honda in 2025. He previously competed in Moto2 for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia from 2019 to 2024. Gerry Salim Laurens (born in Surabaya, 19 April 1997), is a motorcycle racer from Indonesia. Racing Career Gerry started his career in the mid-2000s. In 2011, he won the Motoprix National Championship in the MP6 class. The following year saw him won the Honda One Make Race series in both underbone 110cc and 125cc classes. With him rising through the ranks, Astra Honda Racing Team recruited him to be a part of their rider development program. Andi Farid Izdihar, also known as Andi Gilang (born 14 August 1997), is a motorcycle racer from Indonesia who currently races in Asia Superbike 1000 class of Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).
