2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League
The Bangladesh Premier League 2019, also known as BPL Season 6 or United Commercial Bank Ltd, UCB BPL 2019 Powered by TVS Motor Company, TVS (for sponsorship reasons), was the sixth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the top level professional Twenty20 cricket franchise league in Bangladesh. The competition was organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), featuring seven teams from seven cities. Teams are restricted to having four overseas players per side, instead of five in the previous edition of the tournament. Rangpur Riders were the defending champions. Originally, the season was scheduled to start on 1 October 2018 and end on 16 November 2018. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (; abbreviated as BCB), formerly known as Bangladesh Cricket Control Board, is the governing body of cricket in Bangladesh. The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Bangladesh in October 2018 to play two Tests and three One Day International (ODI) matches. Bangladesh won the ODI series 3–0. Bangladesh's regular Test captain, Shakib Al Hasan, was unavailable due to injury. Therefore, Mahmudullah was named as captain of the squad in his absence. Originally the tour was scheduled to take place in January and February 2019. Mohammad Salahuddin (born 1973 or 1974) is a Bangladeshi cricket coach and current senior assistant coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. Formerly, he has been the assistant coach of the Bangladesh and Singapore national cricket teams. Simon Helmot (born 12 February 1972) is an Australian cricket coach, who was formerly the coach of the Melbourne Renegades. Simon Helmot began his coaching career early, taking the reins of the Hawthorn-Monash University Cricket Club in Melbourne at 25, while he was still a player. Franchise history The Chattogram franchise joined the BPL as one of its original members in 2012, which was owned by SQ sports.
