The 2018–19 Angolan Basketball League was the 41st season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. On 19 May 2019, Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda won its 13th league title, which meant qualification for the 2020 BAL season, 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. Lazare Adingono
Lazare Adingono (or Lazare Adie Ngono; born 11 January 1978) is a Cameroonian-American former basketball player and current head coach of Primeiro de Agosto of the Angolan Basketball League. Playing career Adingono played basketball at the University of Rhode Island from 1999 to 2003. In the 2002–03 season, Adingono was a co-captain and finished third on the team in scoring, with 11.8 points per game. He also was a member of the Cameroon national basketball team. Coaching career Adingono coached the men's national team at the 2007 and 2009 FIBA Africa Championships. From 2006 to 2009, Adingono was an assistant coach for the Canisius Golden Griffins. In April 2009, Adingono left Canisius. Adingono is an uncle of team Cameroon and Petro Atlético player Parfait Bitee. Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, commonly known as Petro de Luanda, is an Angolan basketball club based in Luanda. It competes at the local level, in the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championship and in the BIC Basket, Angola National Basketball Championship. Additionally, the club plays at the continental level, in the Basketball Africa League (BAL), which they have won in 2024 BAL season, 2024. Established in 1976, the team is part of a multi-sports club which includes Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, football and Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (handball), handball teams as well. Angolan Basketball League MVP
The Angolan Basketball League MVP Award, for sponsorships reasons named the Unitel Basket MVP, is an annual basketball award given out to the most valuable player of a given Angolan Basketball League season. The award was first handed out in 1998. Olímpio Cipriano won a record four MVP awards in his career. Aboubakar Gakou and Eduardo Mingas both won three awards.
