2018 Speedway Of Nations
The 2018 Speedway of Nations was the first FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two race-off events and a two-legged final. The event was won by Russia, who beat Great Britain in the Grand Final. It replaced the Speedway World Cup. Format The 2018 Speedway of Nations was a pairs event, with each nation being represented by two senior riders and one rider under the age of 21. Each meeting was staged over 21 heats with the scores from each rider added together to give a total for each nation. The two race-off events consisted of seven teams, with three qualifying for the final. The final, which included hosts Poland, was staged over two legs with the scores from each added together. The top scoring nation went straight through to the Grand Final, while the second and third placed nations competed in the final qualifier for the chance to reach the Grand Final. Speedway Of Nations
The Speedway of Nations is a motorcycle speedway event for national teams, held each year in a different country. The first edition of the competition in the current format took place in 2018. It was the first time an official FIM international pairs competition was staged since the World Pairs Championship ceased in 1993. Great Britain are the current champions after winning in 2024. The Speedway of Nations was not held in 2023 due to the return of the Speedway World Cup, but returned to the speedway calendar in 2024 and 2025. Frederik Jakobsen (born 1 May 1998) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Career In 2018, Jakobsen rode in the top tier of British Speedway, riding for the Poole Pirates in the SGB Premiership 2018. He was a finalist in the 2018 and 2019 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship. In 2022, he returned to the British league when riding for the King's Lynn Stars in the SGB Premiership 2022. In 2023, he re-signed for King's Lynn for the SGB Premiership 2023 but left mid-way through the season. He also signed for GKM Grudziądz for the 2023 Polish speedway season. Antonio Lindbäck
Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden, who competed in the Speedway World Championship and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. He earned 17 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career Lindbäck made his international debut in 2004 with firstly a wild card ride in the Speedway Grand Prix series but he made a bigger impression in the Speedway World Cup riding for the Swedish team. He became the European Under-19 Champion in 2004 and Scandinavian Under-21 Champion in 2005. Jan Fredrik Tobias (Freddie) Lindgren (born 15 September 1985) is a Swedish motorcycle speedway rider. He has won the silver medal and the bronze medal twice at the Speedway World Championship, in addition to the world team championship in 2015. Career Born in Örebro, Sweden. Kjastas Poudžuks (born 23 August 1986) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Latvia and the former Latvian champion. Speedway career Puodžuks rode in the top tier of British Speedway riding for the Oxford Cheetahs during the 2005 Elite League speedway season. He was signed by the Oxford promoter Nigel Wagstaff. Andriy Karpov (born 16 January 1987) also spelt Andriej Karpov is a motorcycle speedway rider from Ukraine. Career Karpov came to prominence when competing the Polish leagues, initially for the Ukrainian teams in Polish Speedway Second League but then in the Ekstraliga for Rzeszów in 2006. It was during 2006 that he won a silver medal at the European Individual Speedway Junior Championship. He quickly gained full international caps for the Ukraine national speedway team and represented them in the European Pairs Speedway Championship. Karpov reached the final of the 2008 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and started competing in the Individual European Championship, where he won a silver medal at the 2009 Individual Speedway European Championship. Aleksandr Dmitrievich Loktaev or Oleksandr Lokatev (, born 10 January 1994) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Ukraine. Career Loktaev first rode in Poland for Falubaz Zielona Góra in the 2010 Polish speedway season. Giovanni Manzares (born 15 August 1993) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Manzares has won three medals at the AMA National Speedway Championship, silver in 2021 and two bronze in 2013 and 2019. In addition to this success he has won the 2013 AMA Speedway Long Track National Championship and 2012 AMA U21 US Speedway National Championship. Gregory Alan Hancock (born June 3, 1970, in Whittier, California) is a former professional motorcycle speedway rider from the United States.
