2018 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Women's Overall
The women's overall in the 2017–18 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, 2018 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup involved 38 events in 5 disciplines: downhill (DH), Super-G (SG), giant slalom (GS), slalom (SL) [which included parallel slaloms and city events], and Alpine combined (AC). Defending champion Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States won 12 events during the season, including 9 in the slalom discipline (seven actual slaloms plus two parallel events), just short of the all-time record of 14, to easily win the overall title. Runner-up Wendy Holdener of Switzerland was over 600 points behind, and they were the only two women to earn over 1,000 points for the season. Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin (born March 13, 1995) is an American FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Alpine skiing, alpine skier who has the most World Cup wins of any alpine skier in history (men or women) and is considered one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time. She is a two-time Olympic Games, Olympic All-time Olympic Games medal table, Gold Medalist, a five-time Overall World Cup champion, a four-time world champion in slalom, and an eight-time winner of the World Cup discipline title in that event. Anna Veith
Anna Veith (née Fenninger; born 18 June 1989) is an Austrian former alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist. She was the overall World Cup champion for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Born in Hallein, Veith is from the village of Adnet in Salzburg and made her World Cup debut at age 17 in November 2006. She competed in all five alpine disciplines, but omitted slalom as of January 2012. Her major breakthrough came when she successfully became world champion in the super combined alpine event in 2011, without having won a World Cup race before. Lara Gut-Behrami (; ; born 27 April 1991) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and Super-G. Frida Marie Hansdotter (born 13 December 1985) is a Swedish former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic champion. She competed in the technical events and specialised in slalom. Christina Weirather (born 24 May 1989) is a retired Liechtensteiner World Cup alpine ski racer. She won a bronze medal in Super-G for Liechtenstein at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
