Fis Phenomenon
The fis phenomenon is a phenomenon during a child's language acquisition that demonstrates that perception of phonemes occurs earlier than a child's ability to produce the appropriate allophone. It is also illustrative of a larger theme in child language acquisition: that skills in Language comprehension, linguistic comprehension generally precede corresponding skills in Language production, linguistic production. The name comes from an incident reported in 1960 by Jean Berko Gleason, J. Berko and Roger Brown (psychologist), R. Brown, in which a child referred to his inflatable plastic fish as a ''fis''. However, when adults asked him, "Is this your ''fis''?" he rejected the statement. When he was asked, "Is this your fish?" he responded, "Yes, my fis." This shows that although the child could not produce the phoneme /ʃ/, he could perceive it as being different from the phoneme /s/. Ljubomir Pavićević Fis
Ljubomir Pavićević Fis (in Serbian Cyrillic: Љубомир Павићевић Фис; Višegrad, 6 February 1927 – Belgrade, 25 September 2015) was a Serbian graphic and industrial designer since 1953. According to the Belgrade Museum of Applied Arts, he is Serbia's oldest and most well-known designer. Biography Fis worked for numerous Yugoslav and foreign factories, firms and institutions, and his projects are realized in hundreds of thousands copies. One of his noted designs was emblem for the Unispace 82 UN conference. The Islamic Salvation Front (; , FIS) was an Islamist political party in Algeria. The party had two major leaders representing its two bases of its support; Abbassi Madani appealed to pious small businessmen, and Ali Belhadj appealed to the angry, often unemployed youth of Algeria.
