The 2016–17 Winnipeg Jets season was the List of Winnipeg Jets seasons, 18th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997, and the sixth in Winnipeg since the franchise relocated from Atlanta Thrashers, Atlanta prior to the start of the 2011–12 NHL season. Central Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2020–21 realignment. Atlanta Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta. Atlanta was granted a franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL) on June 25, 1997, and became the League's 28th franchise when it began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, 1999–2000 season. They were members of the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division of the NHL's Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference, and played their home games at what is now known as Philips Arena, State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. 2016–17 Ottawa Senators Season
The 2016–17 season was the 25th season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). After failing to make the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs, the Senators replaced their management and coaching staff, promoting Pierre Dorion to general manager, and hiring Guy Boucher and Marc Crawford and assistants to coach the team. The team would defy the predictions of much of the media by qualifying for the 2017 playoffs, and then by winning two rounds in the playoffs before losing in double overtime in game seven of the Eastern Conference Final to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. As of 2025, this is the only time in the post-Daniel Alfredsson era where the Senators have come close to playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Ondřej Pavelec
Ondřej Pavelec (; born 31 August 1987) is a Czechs, Czech former professional ice hockey goaltender. Drafted in the second round, 41st overall, by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2005, he stayed with the team as they became the Winnipeg Jets in 2011, and played his final season with the New York Rangers. During the 2012–13 NHL lockout, Pavelec played for HC Bílí Tygři Liberec, Bílí Tygři Liberec of the Czech Extraliga (ELH) and Lahti Pelicans, Pelicans of the Finnish SM-liiga. Playing career Junior Pavelec was drafted in the first round of the 2005 Canadian Hockey League, CHL Import Draft by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He was also drafted by the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers in the second round, 41st overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Michael Hutchinson (ice Hockey)
Michael Edward Hutchinson (born March 2, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently plays for Saimaan Pallo in the Finnish Liiga. Hutchinson was selected by the Boston Bruins in the third round, 77th overall, of the 2008 NHL entry draft. Playing career Amateur Hutchinson grew up playing minor hockey for the Barrie Icemen (now Jr. Colts) of the OMHA's Eastern AAA League. He was a member of the Ontario Blues summer hockey team that featured other notable graduates such as Steven Stamkos, John Tavares, Alex Pietrangelo, Michael Del Zotto, Stefan Della Rovere, Cody Hodgson and Cameron Gaunce. Eric Comrie
Eric Comrie (born July 6, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Jets in the second round (59th overall) in the 2013 NHL entry draft. Playing career Amateur Comrie was born in Edmonton, Alberta but moved to Newport Beach, California with his family when he was nine. He played minor ice hockey with the LA Selects (now the LA Jr. Kings) in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. As a youth, he played in the 2008 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the LA Selects. The 2016–17 Calgary Flames season was their List of Calgary Flames seasons, 37th season in Calgary, and the 45th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 6, 1972.
