The 2016–17 Boston Bruins season was the 93rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on November 1, 1924. After narrowly missing the Stanley Cup playoffs in each of the past two years, the team returned in 2017, losing to the Ottawa Senators in the first round in six games. The Atlantic Division is a name used by the National Hockey League to describe a division of teams in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The 2016–17 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 50th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. This was the 2nd season under head coach Dave Hakstol. The Flyers missed the playoffs, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference and 6th in the Metropolitan Division. Anton Valerievich Khudobin (; born 7 May 1986) is a Kazakhstani-born Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently a free agent. He last played with HC Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Nicknamed "Dobby", Khudobin was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round, 206th overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, playing for the organization for three-and-a-half years before joining the Boston Bruins via a trade in 2011. Zane McIntyre (né Gothberg; born August 20, 1992) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently playing with the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). McIntyre was selected by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
