2015–16 Blackpool F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Blackpool's 107th season in the Football League, and their first season back in League One following relegation from the 2014–15 Football League Championship. Along with competing in League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, League Cup and Football League Trophy. The season covered the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016. The club was managed by Neil McDonald, in his first season in charge. Following Blackpool's relegation to League Two at the end of the season, McDonald left his role as Blackpool manager. Blackpool finished 22nd in League One and were relegated for the second-successive season. They played the 2016–17 campaign in League Two, their first time playing in the bottom division of English professional football in fifteen years. Blackpool is a seaside town in Lancashire, England. It is located on the Irish Sea coast of the Fylde peninsula, approximately north of Liverpool and west of Preston, Lancashire, Preston. It is the main settlement in the Borough of Blackpool, borough of the same name. Blackpool was originally a small hamlet; it began to grow in the mid-eighteenth century, when sea bathing for health purposes became fashionable. Blackpool's beach was suitable for this activity, and by 1781 several hotels had been built. The opening of a railway station in 1846 allowed more visitors to reach the resort, which continued to grow for the remainder of the nineteenth century. In 1876, the town became a borough. Blackpool's development was closely tied to the Lancashire cotton mill, cotton-mill practice of annual factory maintenance shutdowns, known as wakes weeks, when many workers chose to visit the seaside. 2014–15 Football League Championship
The 2014–15 Football League Championship (referred to as the Sky Bet Championship for sponsorship reasons), was the eleventh season of the Football League Championship under its current title and the twenty-third season under its current league structure. The 2014–15 season began on 8 August 2014 and ended on 2 May 2015. Bournemouth won the league on the last day of the season, confirming their place in the top flight for the first time in their history. Watford were runners-up and took their place in the Premier League for the first time since the 2006–07 season. Norwich were the final promoted team, bouncing straight back from their relegation the previous season by beating Middlesbrough 2–0 in the Play Off Final. At the other end of the table, Blackpool were relegated in April having been cut adrift at the bottom of the table for much of the season. Jim McAlister (Scottish Footballer)
James Duncan McAlister (born 2 November 1985) is a Scottish retired footballer, who is most known for being club captain for Greenock Morton, making 361 appearances for the club. Although predominantly right-footed, McAlister played on the left side of midfield in an eight-year first spell at Morton and was transformed into a right wing-back while at Hamilton Academical. At Dundee, he established himself as a central midfielder. After a three-year spell in English football with Blackpool, McAlister returned to Morton in 2018 and retired midway through the 2020–21 season. Playing career Greenock Morton McAlister was raised on the Isle of Bute and attended Rothesay Primary School and Rothesay Academy.
