2015–16 Andebol 1
The 2015–16 Andebol 1 (also known as Fidelidade Andebol 1 for sponsorship reasons) was the 64th season of the Portuguese Handball First Division, the premier professional handball league in Portugal. A total of twelve teams contested the league, which began on 5 September 2015 and concluded on 4 June 2016. ABC Braga beat Benfica 3–2 in the playoff finals to win their 13th national championship title, nine years after their previous triumph. Seven-time defending champions Porto were eliminated by Benfica in the semi-finals. Format The competition format for the 2015–16 season consisted of two phases. The first phase was contested under a double round-robin system, with teams playing against each other home and away. In the second phase, the eight top-ranked teams from the first phase competed in the championship playoffs, while the remaining four teams played a mini-tournament to decide the two teams being relegated to the Second Division. The Campeonato Nacional de Andebol Masculino (English: Men's Handball National Championship), also known simply as Andebol 1 (or Campeonato Placard Andebol 1 for sponsorship reasons), is the premier handball league in Portugal and is overseen by the Portuguese Handball Federation. The competition was created in 1951 and was formerly named ''Campeonato Nacional da Primeira Divisão'' (1951–1982 and 1985–2001), ''Divisão de Elite'' (2002–2006), and ''Liga Portuguesa de Andebol'' (2001–2009). Seven teams have won the league title since its inception. Sporting CP are the current champions with 23 titles, followed by FC Porto with 24 titles and ABC with 13. Portuguese Handball Second Division
Campeonato Nacional de Seniores Masculinos, Segunda Divisão (in English, Men's Senior National Championship, 2nd Division), just Segunda Divisão, is the second-tier handball league in Portugal. The best teams get promoted to Andebol 1, and the worst are relegated to the Portuguese Handball Third Division. Almada AC is the most successful club, having won the competition four times. The competition is played over two phases by 30 teams, initially geographically grouped into three zone groups. The current champions are Arsenal de Devesa, from Braga. Fafe (), officially the City of Fafe (), is a city and municipality in the northern Portuguese district of Braga. The population in 2021 was 48,502, in an area of approximately . Pavilhão Da Luz Nº 2
The Pavilhão da Luz Nº 2 is the second indoor arena, arena (or pavilion) of Portuguese multi-sport club S.L. Benfica. About It has a full capacity of 1,800 seats and is mainly used by the S.L. Benfica (handball), handball and S.L. Benfica (volleyball), volleyball departments of the club. Its construction ran at the same time as the adjacent arena, Pavilhão Fidelidade, but it was finished just a couple weeks later. Because the old Pavilhão da Luz was at full capacity with five sports, Benfica planned the new Estádio da Luz with two indoor arenas; the smaller one only hosting two departments. Estarreja (, ) is a municipality in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 26,997, in an area of 108.17 km2. It had 22,746 eligible voters in 2006. The only city in the municipality is Estarreja, which is in the urban parish of Beduido. The city itself has a population of approximately 7,000.
