2014 Maltese Super Cup
The 2014 Maltese Super Cup was the 32nd Maltese Super Cup, an annual football match played between the winners of the previous season's Maltese Premier League and the FA Trophy. The game was played between Valletta, champions of the 2013–14 Maltese Premier League, and Birkirkara, who beat Hibernians in the final of the 2014–15 FA Trophy. Played at Ta' Qali National Stadium, Birkirkara won the match 2–1. Birkirkara F
Birkirkara (abbreviated as B'Kara or BKR) is a city in the Eastern Region of Malta. It is the second most populous on the island, with 24,356 inhabitants as of 2020. The town consists of five autonomous parishes: Saint Helen, Saint Joseph the Worker, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Mary and San Gorg Preca. The city's motto is ''In hoc signo vinces'', and its coat of arms is a plain red cross, surmounted by a crown. Etymology ''Birkirkara'' means "cold water" or "running water". Jonathan Caruana (born 24 July 1986) is a professional footballer who plays for Maltese Premier League side Valletta, where he plays as a defender. On 26 September 2017, Caruana was handed a four-year ban from football. The 31-year-old was provisionally suspended by the Malta Football Association after he returned a positive sample during an out-of-competition test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) back in March 2017.
