2010–11 Anaheim Ducks Season
The 2010–11 Anaheim Ducks season was the 18th season of operation for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. After a disappointing previous season, the Ducks attempted to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in franchise history. They were ultimately defeated by the Nashville Predators in the first round of the playoffs. Off-season The Anaheim Ducks entered the off-season with much speculation regarding the possible retirement of two mainstays in Anaheim: Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The 2010–11 Nashville Predators season was the team's 13th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). They were defeated by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Regular season The Predators opened the season on October 9 at home against the Anaheim Ducks. The regular season ended on April 9, with their final game being against the St. Louis Blues. 2010–11 Calgary Flames Season
The 2010–11 Calgary Flames season was the 31st season in Calgary and 39th for the Flames franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Flames had an improved season compared to the previous season and finished second in the Northwest Division but failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing just three points out of a playoff spot resulting in them finishing 10th in the Western Conference. It was the second consecutive season that the Flames missed the playoffs. The South Okanagan Events Centre is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. It is home to the Penticton Vees ice hockey team. The Vancouver Canucks won their fifth Northwest division title, third conference championship and first Presidents' Trophy. Andreas Johnny Lilja (born July 13, 1975) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman who played twelve seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, and Philadelphia Flyers. Lilja was a member of the 2008 Stanley Cup winning Red Wings, and was one of several Swedish players Detroit boasted on their roster. Playing career Lilja was drafted in the 2nd round, 54th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
