Nemzeti Bajnokság II
The NB II, currently known as the Merkantil Bank Liga for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of Hungarian football. At the end of the 2004–05 season, the tournament format was changed from one division of 14 teams to two divisions: ''Keleti'' (Eastern) and ''Nyugati'' (Western), each with 16 teams, though now it's just one league table with 16 teams as of the 2024–25 season. The champion and the runner-up will ascend to the first division while the two lowest teams in NB II are relegated to NB III. Format On 2 March 2017, the Hungarian Football Federation announced that the number of the teams in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II will not be reduced to 12. Nemzeti Bajnokság III (''NB III'', ''National Championship III'') is the third tier of Football in Hungary, Hungarian football (from the autumn of 1997 till the spring of 2005, NB III was the fourth tier, the third was NB II). The tier contains 4 groups (northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest) of 16 teams. From NB III, the champions of each group will battle promotion play-off, two teams winning play-off are promoted to the Nemzeti Bajnokság II, NB II. The three lowest teams of each group and two worst 13th place teams are relegated to the first tier of local divisions (''Megyei Bajnokság I, MB I''). The 2010–11 Nemzeti Bajnokság I, also known as NB I, was the 109th season of top-tier football in Hungary. The league is officially named ''Monicomp Liga'' for sponsorship reasons. The season began on 30 July 2010 and ended on 27 May 2011. Debrecen are the defending champions having won their fifth Hungarian championship and second in a row last season. Overview Videoton won their first ever national championship under headcoach György Mezey. The season saw a title-race between two western hungarian teams, Videoton and Paks, both vying for their first ever national title. Videoton were 9 points ahead of Paks by Matchday 10, and were comfortably leading the table by the winter break. Videoton went on to win 8 of their remaining 15 games, and confirmed their status as champions on May 11th, after defeating Kaposvár 3-1. Ceglédi Vasutas Sportegyesület, commonly referred to as Ceglédi VSE is a Hungarian sports club based in Cegléd, Pest County. History On 3 March 1935, Ceglédi Vasutas Sportegyesület ("Cegléd Railway Sports Association") was established on the initiative of railway station chief Dr. Gyula Stankaai, and officers Kornél Ginovszky and József Gámán.
