The 2008–09 Texas Tech Red Raiders men's basketball team represented Texas Tech University during the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team plays in the Big 12 Conference at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The season marked Pat Knight's first full season as head coach. Preseason Personnel changes Pat Knight took over the head coaching duties late in the 2007–08 season after Bob Knight resigned on February 4, 2008. Pat Knight
Patrick Clair Knight (born September 21, 1970) is an American basketball coach. It was announced he had been hired as the men's coach at Marian University in Indianapolis on May 8, 2024. Prior to that he was a scout for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Knight assumed that position on July 1, 2014, and was the Pacers' college scout for the West Coast Region. Formerly, he was an American college basketball coach. He became the coach of the Lamar Cardinals basketball team on April 5, 2011, but was fired on February 16, 2014. He was previously the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders men's basketball team until March 7, 2011. The 2008–09 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 2008–09 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal were led by first year head coach Johnny Dawkins, and played their home games at Maples Pavilion as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference. Previous season The Cardinal began the year ranked in the top 25 in both polls and would stay until a loss to Siena knocked them out. Centenary Gentlemen Basketball
The Centenary Gentlemen basketball team represents Centenary College, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, in NCAA Division III men's basketball competition. The "Gentlemen" nickname is exclusive to men's athletes and teams; ''Ladies'' is used for women's teams and athletes. The team is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division III. The 2008–09 New Mexico Lobos men's basketball team represented the University of New Mexico as a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos were coached by second-year head coach Steve Alford and played their home games at the University Arena, also known as "The Pit", in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Don Haskins Center, formerly known as the Special Events Center, is the home of UTEP Miners men's and women's basketball. The venue is located in the heart of El Paso, Texas. The Lamar Cardinals basketball team represents Lamar University in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. The Cardinals currently play in the Southland Conference following a return from the Western Athletic Conference on July 11, 2022. They were one of four programs, all from Texas, that left the Southland Conference on July 1, 2021, to join the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). 2008–09 Wichita State Shockers Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Wichita State Shockers men's basketball team represented Wichita State University in the 2008-09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team, which played in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), was led by second-year head coach Gregg Marshall. The Shockers opened the season with a win over Florida A&M on November 10, 2008, and ended the season with a loss to Stanford in the College Basketball Invitational. Their final record for 2008–09 was 17–17 (8–10 MVC), an improvement from their 2007–08 record of 11–20 (4–14 MVC).
