The 2006–07 National Football League was the 11th and final season of the top Indian professional league for association football clubs before it is rebranded as the I-League from 2007–08 season. This change was part of a broader effort to a professionalize the league. Overview The league was contested by 10 teams with Dempo winning the championship under the guidance of coach Armando Colaco. This victory marked their second title in the league. JCT secured the second position, while Mahindra came third. Mohammedan and HAL (Hindustan Aeronotics Limited) and were relegated from the league for the next edition of National Football League 2007-08. National Football League (India)
The National Football League (NFL) was the men's highest level of the Indian football league system#Men's, Indian football league system from 1996 to 2007. Founded by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in 1996, the NFL was the first football league in India to be organized on a national scale. The AIFF then added a second division in 1997 and a third division was soon added by the governing body in 2006. The NFL was eventually replaced by the I-League for the 2007–08 I-League, 2007–08 season in order to professionalize the sport in India. As well as league competition, clubs in the NFL would also participate in the main domestic cup competition, the Federation Cup (India), Federation Cup. Edmilson Marques Pardal
Edmilson Marques Pardal (simply known as Edmilson) is a Brazilian footballer. Career East Bengal In 2007 Edmilson signed with East Bengal FC in the I-League 2007-08. In his only season with the club he played 27 matches while scoring 23 goals. Prayag United In 2009, Edmilson signed on with another Kolkata-based side Prayag United and played only one season in which he played ten games without scoring. Southern Samity In 2011 Edmilson decided to go to the I-League 2nd Division and signed with Southern Samity for the 2011 season. He played 4 games and scored twice as Southern Samity missed out on promotion. Return to East Bengal On January 13, 2011 it was announced that Edmilson would sign for East Bengal again after he signed with 2nd Division club Royal Wahingoh earlier and represented the club in Federation Cup. Ranti Martins
Ranti Martins Soleye (born 5 September 1986) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Martins regarded as one of the best foreign players to play in India. He is the record goal scorer in the history of Indian top-flight football with 214 goals., and set the record for most goals scored in an Indian top tier season by scoring 32 goals in the 2011–12 I-League season for Dempo. He also finished as the first tier's top scorer in six seasons, more times than any other player. He scored a total 22 goals for Indian clubs at the continental tournament AFC Cup.
