2006–07 Luxembourg National Division
The 2006–07 Luxembourg National Division was the 93rd season of top level association football in Luxembourg. The competition ran from 5 August 2006 to 30 May 2007. F91 Dudelange continued their domination of the National Division by winning their third league title in a row; Dudelange also won the Luxembourg Cup to complete the Double. Teams The National Division was expanded from the 2005–06 season's complement of twelve teams to fourteen. Those fourteen clubs were: Format Unlike in previous seasons, when a more complicated system was used, the 2006–07 season involved only a round-robin among the fourteen teams. Luxembourg National Division
The National Division (, , ), known as the BGL Ligue for sponsorship reasons, is the highest association football, football league in Luxembourg. Until 2011, it was known as the BGL Ligue, after the Luxembourg Football Federation managed to seal a sponsorship deal with Fortis (finance), Fortis. Before 2006, it contained twelve teams, but it expanded to fourteen for the 2006–07 Luxembourg National Division, 2006–07 season. Following the abandonment of the previous season, the 2020–21 Luxembourg National Division, 2020–21 season saw the further expansion of the league to 16 teams. The current champions are Differdange 03. CS Pétange
Club Sportif Pétange is a former football club, based in Pétange, in south-western Luxembourg. In 2015 it folded and merged with FC Titus Lamadelaine to form Union Titus Pétange. History In the 2007–08 season, Pétange finished fourteenth and last in the National Division and were relegated to the Division of Honour. In 2008/09 the club finished top of the Luxembourg Division of Honour and immediately returned to the National Division. They, however, were again relegated at the end of the 2012–13 season. Mondercange
Mondercange (; ; ) is a commune in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette in south-western Luxembourg. the commune has a population of 7,119 inhabitants. , the town of Mondercange, which lies in the west of the commune, has a population of 3,948. Mamer
Mamer () is a commune and town (strictly classified as a village) in south-western Luxembourg. It is located west of Luxembourg City. The commune includes both Mamer itself and the smaller communities of Capellen and Holzem. Mamer is situated on the river Mamer, a tributary of the Alzette. The A6 motorway from Luxembourg to Brussels, also designated European route E25, runs through Mamer. , Mamer, which lies in the east of the commune, has a population of 7,942. Bascharage
Bascharage (; ; ) is a town and a former commune in south-western Luxembourg. Since 2012, it is part of the commune of Käerjeng. History Bascharage with the other towns like Linger, Hautcharage, and Pétange were owned by the "Hoheit Kerschen". The first known reference to them was on April 4, 1281, for obtaining their freedom under the law of Beamont "Freiheitsbrief nach Böhmerrecht". The freedom of Clemency probably happened in 1260. After the occupation of France (1794 – 1815), the "Hoheit Kerschen" changed in "municipalité cantonale Bascharage" with the townships of Bascharage, Clemency, Mamer, Garnich, and Dippach. Jeunesse Esch (full name ''Association Sportive la Jeunesse d'Esch/Alzette'') is a professional football club based in Esch-sur-Alzette, in south-western Luxembourg. Club Sportif Grevenmacher is a football club, based in Grevenmacher, in eastern Luxembourg. History The club was founded in 1909 as '' 'Stade Mosellan' ''. The current name of the club, '' 'CS Grevenmacher' '', was adopted in 1919. During the Nazi occupation of the Second World War, the club was renamed '' 'FK Grevenmacher' '', as part of Gauleiter Gustav Simon's policy of Germanisation. The club's name reverted to '' 'CS Grevenmacher' '' upon liberation in 1944. 1949–50 was the first season in which Grevenmacher played in the top league, the National Division. Ettelbruck
Ettelbruck ( , ) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune with list of towns in Luxembourg, town status in central Luxembourg, with a population of inhabitants. History Until 1850, both Erpeldange and Schieren were part of the Ettelbruck commune as well, but both towns were detached from Ettelbruck by law on 1 July 1850.
