2006–07 Jackson State Tigers Basketball Team
The 2006–07 Jackson State Tigers basketball team represented Jackson State University in the 2006–07 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Tigers, led by 11th-year head coach Tevester Anderson, played their home games at the Williams Assembly Center in Jackson, Mississippi as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. After finishing the conference regular season tied for second in the standings, Jackson State won the SWAC tournament to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. As No. 16 seed in the Midwest region, the Tigers were beaten by No. 1 seed and eventual National champion Florida in the opening round. Tevester Anderson
Tevester Anderson (born February 25, 1937) is a retired American college basketball coach and former men's basketball head coach at Jackson State University and Murray State University. He is a native of Canton, Mississippi. Anderson earned his bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from Arkansas AM&N University (now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in 1962 and, in 1971, earned his master's degree in biological science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, North Carolina A&T State University. He began his coaching career at Canton High School, where he served as head basketball coach; he also taught biology. The 2006–07 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in the 2006–07 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Bruce Weber's fourth season at Illinois. The team finished with 9–7 conference and 21–10 overall records. The Illini advanced to the semifinal round of the Big Ten tournament and were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The W. F. "Bill" Harris State Fair Arena (called Bill Harris Arena or Fair Park Arena) is a 5,000-seat multipurpose indoor arena located at the Birmingham CrossPlex (formerly Alabama State Fairgrounds). Dunn–Oliver Acadome
The Dunn–Oliver Acadome is a 7,400-seat multi-purpose arena in Montgomery, Alabama. Opened in 1992, it is home to the Alabama State Hornets basketball team of Alabama State University. In October 1996, the Acadome hosted an NBA preseason game between the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers. From its opening until May 2008, it was named the Joe L. Reed Acadome, after Joe L. Reed, who played a significant, high-profile leadership role at ASU. In 2008, the Alabama State Board of Trustees voted to remove Reed's name from the building, based upon claims that Reed gave the university negative publicity and wasted taxpayer money by filing too many frivolous lawsuits. The Don Haskins Center, formerly known as the Special Events Center, is the home of UTEP Miners men's and women's basketball. The venue is located in the heart of El Paso, Texas. Jersey Mike's Arena, commonly known as the RAC (an initialism for Rutgers Athletic Center, its former official name), is an 8,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Piscataway, New Jersey on Rutgers University's Livingston Campus.
