2005–06 Debreceni VSC Season
The 2005–06 season was Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club's 32nd competitive season, 13th consecutive season in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I and 93rd season in existence as a football club. In addition to the domestic league, Debrecen participated in that season's editions of the Magyar Kupa, the Szuperkupa, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup. Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club is a Hungarian professional football club based in Debrecen that competes in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the first tier of Hungarian football. They are best known internationally for reaching the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in the 2009–10 season. Debrecen have become the second most successful club in Hungary since 2000, winning the Hungarian League seven times. History Debrecen was founded on 12 March 1902 as Debreceni Vasutas Sport Club. The club first reached the Nemzeti Bajnokság I in the 1943–44 season. Debrecen rose to domestic prominence in the early 2000s when they won their first Hungarian league title in 2004–05 season. Tibor Dombi
Tibor Dombi (; born 11 November 1973) is a Hungarian former professional footballer who played as a right midfielder. He spent most of his career with Debreceni VSC, where he amassed over 400 league appearances in two stints separated by spells at Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga and at FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie. Career Born in Püspökladány, Dombi came through the youth setup of Debreceni VSC, and joined the senior team in 1992. He made his debut for the Hungary national team in 1994, and got 35 caps and one goal until 2001, when he retired from international football. He was a participant at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where Hungary failed to progress from the group stage. Dragan Vukmir
Dragan Vukmir (; born 2 August 1978) is a Serbian professional football manager and a former defender. He is the manager of Hungarian club Diósgyőr. He was capped once for Serbia and Montenegro. Vukmir spent the majority of his career in Hungary, representing four clubs and amassing 299 appearances in the top flight. He won three national championships and three national cups. Péter Máté (; born 2 December 1984) is a Hungarian former professional footballer who played as a defender. Club career Máté was born in Püspökladány, Hungary and started his career at his local football club, Tünet SE. His talents were spotted by the scouts of Debreceni Focisuli, where he spent the rest of his youth career. He started football at senior level at Debreceni VSC, where he played two league matches in his first season, and one in his second. In his third season, he played 11 matches scoring one goal. Since he had few opportunities to play at senior level in 2004, he was sent on loan to Miskolc to play for Diósgyőri VTK. There he played 26 matches scoring two goals. This performance was good enough to convince the Debrecen board and coaching staff, so at the end of the season he returned to Debrecen. Sandro Tomić
Sandro Tomić (born 29 October 1972 in Split) is a Croatian former football goalkeeper and currently the goalkeeping coach. Tomić previously played for Hajduk Split and NK Zagreb in the Prva HNL. He was a member of the 1995 Hajduk team which became Croatian champions, as well as becoming Hungarian champion with Debrecen in 2005 and 2006, with two supercups, while with Honvéd he won the Hungarian Cup. On 21 August 2007 Tomić signed a contract with newly formed Iranian side PAS Hamedan F.C. He was supposed to play for Croatia in World Cup 1998.
