2003–04 Oklahoma State Cowboys Basketball Team
The 2003–04 Oklahoma State Cowboys men's basketball team represented Oklahoma State University in the 2003–04 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by 14th-year head coach Eddie Sutton. In 2002–03, the Cowboys finished 22–10 (10–6 in the Big 12 Conference). Preseason Four transfers became eligible to play for the Cowboys this season. Joey Graham, Joey and Stevie Graham transferred from the University of Central Florida, Daniel Bobik transferred from Brigham Young University, BYU, and John Lucas III transferred from Baylor University but did not have to sit out the required year after the Baylor University basketball scandal. Eddie Sutton
Edward Eugene Sutton (March 12, 1936 – May 23, 2020) was an American college basketball coach. A native of Bucklin, Kansas, Sutton played college basketball at Oklahoma A&M (later Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball, Oklahoma State) and was a head coach at the high school, junior college, and college levels spanning six decades. After beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State under Henry Iba, Sutton was a successful head coach at Tulsa Central High School and the College of Southern Idaho. Sutton began coaching at the NCAA level in 1969 at Creighton Bluejays men's basketball, Creighton University, followed by Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball, Arkansas from 1974 to 1985, Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball, Kentucky from 1985 to 1989, and Oklahoma State from 1990 to 2006. Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball
The Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University in basketball. Texas Tech competes in NCAA Division I and has been a charter member of the Big 12 Conference since its first season in 1996. The team previously competed in the Border Conference and Southwest Conference. The team was founded in 1925, having since won 13 regular season conference championship, and made 21 appearances in the NCAA tournament as of the 2024–2025 season. Tony Allen (basketball)
Anthony Allen (born January 11, 1982), nicknamed "the Grindfather," is an American former professional basketball player who played for 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), primarily for the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies. Ivan McFarlin
Ivan McFarlin (born April 26, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. Basketball career McFarlin attended Willowridge High School in Houston, Texas, where he led his team to win the state championship in his senior year, as he averaged 15.9 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 3.2 steals. McFarlin played college basketball at Oklahoma State University, and helped the Cowboys to a Final Four appearance in 2004, where the team lost to Georgia Tech on a late-game basket. He is one of four Oklahoma State players to have over 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, and 100 blocks, the other three being Byron Houston, Leroy Combs and Bryant Reeves. Stephen Graham (basketball)
Stephen Graham (born June 11, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player coach. Graham's twin brother, Joey, was his college teammate and has also played in the NBA. High school and college career Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Graham played competitively at Florida's Brandon High School, and was team captain his senior year in which he averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists per game; in that year, he and his brother Joey led Brandon to the state finals. William Bynum (born January 4, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the University of Arizona and Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech before going undrafted in the 2005 NBA draft. 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2004 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 16, 2004, and ended with the championship game on April 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. A total of 64 games were played. The NCAA named, for the first time, the four tournament regions after regional site host cities instead of the "East", "Midwest", "South", and "West" designations. It was also the first year that the matchups for the national semifinals were determined at least in part by the overall seeding of the top team in each regional . The top four teams in the tournament were Kentucky, Duke, Stanford, and Saint Joseph's. Had all of those teams advanced to the Final Four, Kentucky would have played Saint Joseph's and Duke would have played Stanford in the semifinal games. 2004 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2004 Big 12 men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big 12 Conference. It was played from March 11 to 14 in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center. Oklahoma State won the tournament for the 1st time and received the conference's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA tournament. Seeding The Tournament consisted of a 12 team single-elimination tournament with the top 4 seeds receiving a bye. Baylor removed itself from postseason play, including the conference tournament, before the 2003–04 season due to the Baylor University basketball scandal. Because of this, Texas Tech got a bye in the first round of the tournament. This would be the first time in the history of the tournament that all the conference's member teams did not participate; it would not happen again until 2022, when Oklahoma State did not participate in the tournament due to an NCAA-imposed postseason ban.
