The 2002–03 Georgian Cup (also known as the ''David Kipiani Cup'') was the fifty-ninth season overall and thirteenth since independence of the Georgian annual football tournament. Round of 32 The first legs were played on 24 and 26 February and the second legs were played on 28 February and 1 March 2003. Round of 16 The first legs were played on 5 and 6 March and the second legs were played on 9 and March 2003. Quarterfinals The matches were played on 18 March (first legs) and 10 April 2003 (second legs). Semifinals The matches were played on 19 April (first legs) and 7 May 2003 (second legs). FC Locomotive Tbilisi
FC Locomotive Tbilisi, commonly referred to as Lokomotivi or simply Loco, is a Georgian professional football club based Tbilisi. The club competes in the Erovnuli Liga 2, the second tier of Georgian football. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. The club won Georgian championship in 1937, which gave them the permission to participate in USSR Top League. Their debut season in the highest level of the Soviet football championship came in 1938, where the club took 24th place out of 26 and got relegated. However, the Tbilisi-based club managed to get another promotion during the following season and participated in 1940 Soviet Top League. But they were eventually disqualified from the tournament. FC Tskhinvali
FC Tskhinvali is a defunct Georgian football club, which in mid-2010s spent four seasons in the top tier of the national league. Despite the name, due to the enduring Georgian–Ossetian conflict they were unable to host their opponents in the city of Tskhinvali, playing home games instead in Georgian-controlled areas, mostly in Gori, Tbilisi and Rustavi. In early 2020, the club was disqualified from Liga 3 after their failure to solve a severe financial crisis. FC Dinamo Batumi ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი დინამო ბათუმი) is a Georgian professional football club based in Batumi, Adjara that competes in the Erovnuli Liga, the top division of the national football system. The club won the champion's title in 2021 and 2023, the Georgian Cup in 1997–98, and two Georgian Super Cups, in 1997–98 and 2022. FC Mertskhali ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი მერცხალი ოზურგეთი; English: Swallows) is a professional football club based in Ozurgeti, Guria, Georgia. The team competes in Liga 4, the fourth tier of Georgian football. Mertskhali have spent four seasons in Umaglesi Liga, the top Georgian division. History Early period Founded in 1936, the team finished 2nd in Division 2 in 1938 and advanced to the main league of the Soviet Georgian championship. In 1958, they claimed their first bronze medals. In the next two years Mertskhali twice clinched the Republican Cup. Also, in 1964 and 1966 the club again came the third, and in 1967 became a winner of the league, which paved the way for their participation in the Soviet championship. FC Merani Tbilisi is a Georgian football club based in Tbilisi. They play in the Liga 3, the third division in Georgian football. They play their home games at Sinatle Stadium. The club is named after a hotel in Tbilisi. The club colours are all-red for home matches, and all-white for away. FC Mtskheta (2001–2004)
FC Mtskheta, renamed to Mtskheta-Urioni in the 2003–04 season, was a Georgian association football club based in Mtskheta. The club played its matches at Armazi Stadium, currently called Mtskheta Park. History In the 2001–02 season the club participated in Regionuli Liga (eastern zone), where they took first place. In 2002–03 Mtskheta played in Pirveli Liga, where they finished third and qualified for a play-off game. After a 1:0 extra-time win against Gorda Rustavi they secured promotion to Umaglesi Liga. The next season the club took the 9th place in the league and was relegated after losing a play-off match, in which Gorda Rustavi took revenge for the previous year's loss. FC Guria ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი გურია) is a Georgian association football club from Lanchkhuti. Following the 2024 season they were relegated to Liga 4, the fourth tier of the national league. FC Dinamo Zugdidi is a defunct Georgian football club based in Zugdidi. In 2023, after being accused of match-fixing and expelled from the Erovnuli Liga 2 the previous season, the club took part in Liga 4 and stopped functioning following their relegation to Regionuli Liga. History The club was founded in 1918 as Odishi Zugdidi. In 1990, FC Odishi Zugdidi were promoted for the first time to the Umaglesi Liga, the top division of Georgian football. In the 1998–99 season they finished 15th and were relegated to the Pirveli Liga. Ahead of the 2001–02 season the club changed its name to FC Lazika Zugdidi and the following season the club won promotion back to the Umaglesi Liga. Ahead of the 2003–04 season, FC Lazika Zugdidi merged with FC Spartaki Tbilisi, a Pirveli Liga club. FC Samtredia ( ka, სკ სამტრედია), commonly known as Samtredia, is a Georgian professional football club based in the city of Samtredia. Following the 2024 season, the club was relegated to Erovnuli Liga 2, the 2nd tier of Georgian football. Their home ground is the Erosi Manjgaladze Stadium. In 2016, Samtredia won the league and the Super Cup.
