The 1997 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) rookie draft was an event at which teams drafted players from the amateur ranks. The annual rookie draft was held on January 19, 1997, at the Glorietta Mall in Makati. Glorietta
Glorietta (; stylized in all lowercase), also known as Ayala Malls Glorietta and formerly known as Quad, is a shopping mall complex in the Ayala Center, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines. The mall is owned by Ayala Land and operated through its subsidiary, the Ayala Malls. The mall is divided into five sections (named Glorietta 1 to 5) and contains many shops and restaurants, as well as cinemas, gyms, arcades and two central activity centers. Visitors have described the mall as maze-like, due to the complexity of its interior layout. Glorietta 1 to 4 is integrated with the nearby Greenbelt, SM Makati, Rustan's Makati, and The Landmark. Shell Turbo Chargers
The Shell Turbo Chargers were a Philippine Basketball Association team from 1985 to 2005. It won four PBA championships, two from 1998 to 1999. Shell sold its franchise to PBL team Welcoat Dragons, Welcoat Paints in February 2006. The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. Tonyboy Espinosa
Antonio "Tonyboy" Espinosa (sometimes spelled as Tony Boy) is a Filipino former basketball player and basketball coach who serving as one of the assistant coaches under Chito Victolero of the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots in the PBA. Playing career La Salle Espinosa played for De La Salle Green Archers from 1991 to 1995 under Derrick Pumaren, and later with Virgil Villavicencio, and played with future colleague Jason Webb. In the 1991 UAAP Finals, he played against FEU Tamaraws led by another future colleague Johnny Abarrientos. The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
