The Besta deild karla () is a professional association football league in Iceland and the highest level of the Icelandic football league system. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (April to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) and has 12 teams. By the end of the 2022–23 season, UEFA ranked the league No. 48 in Europe. From 27 April 2009 to 2022, the league had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. From the 2019 season to the end of the 2021 season, the league was popularly referred to as Pepsi Max deildin (The Pepsi Max League). The 1993–94 UEFA Cup was the 23rd season of Europe's then-tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. The final was played over two legs at the Ernst-Happel Stadion, Vienna, Austria, and at San Siro, Milan, Italy. The competition was won by Italian club Internazionale, who beat Austria Salzburg of Austria by an aggregate result of 2–0, to claim their second UEFA Cup title in a span of four years. Helgi Sigurðsson (born 17 September 1974) is an Icelandic former professional footballer and manager of ÍBV. A forward, he played for clubs in Iceland, Germany, Norway, Greece, and Denmark and represented Iceland at international level. Club career Helgi was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. He started his career at Víkingur Reykjavik and won the Icelandic championship with them in 1991. He then moved to Knattspyrnufélagið Fram before signing for VfB Stuttgart in Germany. Joined Stabæk in 1997 and won the Norwegian Football Cup final with them in 1998, scoring two of three of Stabæk's goals. In 1999, he moved to Panathinaikos in Greece, nicknamed ''the Shark''.
