Gérard Rué (born 7 July 1965 in Romillé) is a French former road cyclist. He was a professional from 1987 to 1996. Career Rué began his professional career in 1987 with the Système U–Gitane team. In 1993, he transferred to the Banesto team to support Miguel Induráin and Pedro Delgado. Known for being one of the most important teammates of Miguel Induráin in the Banesto team, he also won several races and some places of honor in the classics. Davide Cassani
Davide Cassani (born 1 January 1961) is a former road cyclist and cycling commentator on Italian television from Italy. He was manager for Italy national cycling team. He was born in Faenza. In 1982 he made his professional debut with Termolan–Galli. In 1986 he moved to Carrera, where he supported figures such as Claudio Chiappucci, Roberto Visentini and Stephen Roche; Cassani later raced for Gewiss–Bianchi, Ariostea, GB-MG and Saeco. He retired in 1996 after being hit by a motorist while in training. Media work After retiring from cycling, he became a commentator at Italian public broadcaster RAI. In 2007, he was involved in the withdrawal of Michael Rasmussen from the Tour de France. Cassani claimed to have seen Rasmussen in the Dolomites mountains in Italy, while Rasmussen and Rasmussen's in-laws claimed that he was in Mexico at that time. La Flèche Wallonne (, French for "The Walloon Arrow") is a men's professional cycle road race held in April each year in Wallonia, Belgium. It is part of the UCI World Tour. The first of two Belgian Ardennes classics, La Flèche Wallonne is today normally held mid-week between the Amstel Gold Race and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. At one time, La Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège were run on successive days as "Le Weekend Ardennais" (both races are organised by Amaury Sport Organisation). Ariostea (cycling Team)
Ariostea () was an Italian professional cycling team from 1984 to 1993. Its first team manager was Giorgio Vannucci; he was replaced in 1986 by Giancarlo Ferretti, who remained manager until the team was disbanded in 1993. History The first major victories were the two stage wins at the 1986 Giro d'Italia by Sergio Santimaria (1st stage, ''maglia rosa'' for one day) and Norwegian rider Dag Erik Pedersen (15th stage). The highest placed Ariostea rider in the general classification was Alfio Vandi, who finished 11th, 12 minutes and 40 seconds behind the winner. In the late 1980s the team became a more prominent presence in the peloton. One of its successful riders was Rolf Sørensen who won Paris–Tours in 1990 and the Tirreno–Adriatico of 1992. Viatcheslav Vladimirovich Ekimov (Russian Вячеслав Владимирович Екимов; born 4 February 1966) is a Russian former professional racing cyclist. A triple Olympic gold medalist, he was awarded the title of Russian Cyclist of the Century in 2001. Biography Ekimov was born in Vyborg, and started training as a cyclist at age 12 with a bicycle school affiliated with the famous centre of Aleksandr Kuznetsov. He trained in Leningrad at Lokomotiv and later Armed Forces sports society during the Soviet era. Ekimov won three Olympic gold medals: in the track team pursuit in Seoul (1988) for the USSR, and in an upset, in the road time trial in Sydney (2000) for Russia. Pedro Delgado Robledo (; born 15 April 1960), also known as Perico (), is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer. He won the 1988 Tour de France, as well as the Vuelta a España in 1985 and 1989. He finished in the top 10 of eighteen Grand Tours. Delgado tested positive for the known masking agent Probenecid during the 1988 tour. The drug, which had been placed on the International Olympic Committee's list of banned substances in January of that year, had not yet been banned by the sport's governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale; as a consequence, Delgado was allowed to continue racing and was not charged with any doping offence. Atle Sturla Kvålsvoll (born 10 April 1962) is a Norwegian former professional road cyclist. He rode the Tour de France six times between 1988 and 1994, finishing four times. His best performance was in 1990, when he finished 26th and contributed to Greg LeMond's winning the yellow jersey. He competed in the individual road race event at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
