Moreno Argentin
Moreno Argentin (born 17 December 1960) is an Italian former professional cycle sport, cyclist (from 1981 to 1994) and race director. Born in San Donà di Piave (Veneto), Argentin won stages in the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia, and the Tour de Suisse. Known as ''Il Capo'' ("The Boss"), he won Liège–Bastogne–Liège four times, the La Flèche Wallonne three times, and the Tour of Flanders (men's race), Tour of Flanders and Giro di Lombardia once. He became Italian national champion in 1983 and 1989, and world champion in 1986. Argentin cofounded the Adriatica Ionica Race, first run in 2018. Dimitri Konyshev
Dimitri Borisovich Konyshev (; born on February 18, 1966) is a retired Russian road bicycle racer. During Konyshev's 17-year professional cycling career, he won nine Grand Tour stages with at least one stage win in all three Grand Tours. He won four stages each in the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia, and one stage in the Vuelta a España. Konyshev was the first Soviet and Russian rider to win a medal in the Men's Road race at the UCI Road World Championships. He won a silver medal in 1989 behind Greg LeMond, and a bronze medal in 1992 behind Gianni Bugno and Laurent Jalabert. He was also the first Soviet and Russian rider to win a stage at the Giro d'Italia. Iñaki Gastón
Iñaki Gastón Crespo (born 25 May 1963, in Bilbao) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer. Career During Gastón's first race as a professional the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana he won stage 2b taking his first professional victory. In the 1986 Clásica de San Sebastián Gastón made it to the line with Marino Lejarreta who he then beat in the sprint to win the race. He is one of two Basque riders to ever win the race. Gastón won the 1990 Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme beating Tony Rominger by six seconds. For the final year of his career his team merged with to form for the 1994 season. Post-Cycling Retiring from cycling after the 1994 season Gastón became a Pharmaceutical salesman. He plans to work until he is 60 then he will retire from work all together. Marino Lejarreta
Marino Lejarreta Arrizabalaga (born 14 May 1957) is a retired Spanish professional road racing cyclist. His biggest victory was capturing the 1982 Vuelta a España, a Grand Tour stage race, and he is the inaugural and record three-time winner of the Clásica de San Sebastián (1981, 1982, 1987), which is now considered a one-day classic. In 1989, Lejarreta captured the Volta a Catalunya repeating one of his first professional wins in 1980 at the same event. Career Lejarreta rode very well in the 1982 Vuelta, but initially finished 2nd to Ángel Arroyo while coming in just eighteen seconds ahead of Michel Pollentier. Following the race however, Arroyo and several other riders failed doping controls in one of the biggest scandals in Vuelta history making the young Basque rider the de facto winner of the race. Johan Bruyneel (born 23 August 1964) is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer and a former directeur sportif for UCI ProTour team , and (later known as Discovery Channel), a US-based UCI ProTour cycling team. On 25 October 2018, the World Anti Doping Agency imposed a lifetime ban on Bruyneel for his role in a doping scandal that also saw Lance Armstrong stripped of his seven Tour de France titles. Jean-François Bernard
Jean-François Bernard (born 2 May 1962) is a French former professional road bicycle racer. Career He turned professional in 1984 for La Vie Claire, led by Bernard Hinault. He was seen as Hinault’s successor as a winner of stage races from 1986. He competed in the team time trial event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Bernard wore the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification in the 1987 Tour de France and won two stages, both time trials, including one on Mont Ventoux. He finished the race third behind Stephen Roche of Ireland and Pedro Delgado of Spain and was in contention all the way to the end in what still remains among the closest Tours in history. He won three stages in the 1988 Giro d'Italia and led the race, but he crashed in a tunnel, injured his back and abandoned the race. Claude Criquielion
Claude Criquielion (11 January 1957 – 18 February 2015) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer who raced between 1979 and 1990. In 1984, Criquielion became the world road race champion in Barcelona, Spain on a gruelling course. He had five top-ten finishes in the Tour de France. Criquielion was well placed to win a medal in the 1988 world road race championship in Belgium. However, he crashed in sight of the line when another competitor, Steve Bauer of Canada, pushed him into the safety barriers and was disqualified for this reason. The third rider, Maurizio Fondriest, went on to win. Bauer was disqualified and Criquielion sued Bauer for assault, asking for $1.5 million in damages in a case that lasted more than three years before the judge unexpectedly ruled in Bauer's favor. Ariostea (cycling Team)
Ariostea () was an Italian professional cycling team from 1984 to 1993. Its first team manager was Giorgio Vannucci; he was replaced in 1986 by Giancarlo Ferretti, who remained manager until the team was disbanded in 1993. History The first major victories were the two stage wins at the 1986 Giro d'Italia by Sergio Santimaria (1st stage, ''maglia rosa'' for one day) and Norwegian rider Dag Erik Pedersen (15th stage). The highest placed Ariostea rider in the general classification was Alfio Vandi, who finished 11th, 12 minutes and 40 seconds behind the winner.
