The 1991 PCzechoslovak Open was a men's tennis tournament played on Clay in Prague, Czech Republic that was part of the International Series of the 1991 ATP Tour. Karel Nováček
Karel Nováček (born 30 March 1965) is a retired Czech people, Czech former top ten tennis player born in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). In his career, Nováček won 13 singles titles and six doubles titles. His highest singles ranking was World No. 8, which he achieved on 18 November 1991. His best performance at a Grand Slam came at the 1994 US Open (tennis), 1994 US Open where he defeated Alexander Vladimirovich Volkov, Andriy Medvedev, Todd Woodbridge, Javier Frana and Jaime Yzaga before losing to Michael Stich in the semifinal. In 1997, Novacek was suspended for three months for failing a drug test at the 1995 French Open; he forfeited $185,765, but denied taking cocaine knowingly. Carlos Costa (tennis)
Carles ("Carlos") Costa Masferrer (born 22 April 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Costa turned professional in 1988. He was among the game's leading clay court players in the early 1990s. Costa was runner-up at the 1992 Italian Open, and reached the fourth round at that year's French Open and US Open. Additionally, Costa won the Barcelona Open, a tournament hosted by the tennis club where he grew up. In May 1992, he reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 10. Costa retired in 1999. In April 2006 he played in the 2006 Seniors Torneo Godó event in Barcelona where he lost to Sergi Bruguera in the final. Karol Kučera
Karol Kučera (; born 4 March 1974) is a Slovak tennis coach and former professional player. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 6 in September 1998, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open the same year. Tennis career Kučera turned professional in 1992. He was a member of the Czechoslovakian Galea Cup teams in 1991 and 1992 and the 1992 European championship squad. In 1993 he qualified for his first Grand Slam at Roland Garros. Pavel Vojtíšek ATP and ITF websites list his name as Paul Vojtischek but English language newspaper articles from his playing days use Pavel Vojtisek. (born 13 June 1963) is a Czechoslovak-born West German retired professional tennis player. Vojtíšek, who got West German citizenship in his early 20s, is married to two-time Grand Slam finalist Renáta Tomanová. Franco Davín (; born January 11, 1970) is a tennis coach and a former professional player from Argentina. Davín won three singles tournaments on the ATP Tour, and reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 30 in October 1990. José Francisco Altur
José Francisco Altur Gascón (born 24 March 1968) is a tennis coach and a former professional player from Spain. Career Pro tour Altur won the 1989 San Marino Open, as a qualifier, although he didn't have to face a single top 100 player. It was his only tournament win on the ATP Tour. He played 11 Grand Slam singles matches during his career, but lost them all. His most noteworthy efforts were taking a set off Jim Courier at the 1990 French Open and winning the opening set against Michael Chang at that year's Wimbledon. Roberto Azar (born 21 March 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Azar was runner-up at the San Marino Open in 1989. He also reached the semi-finals at the Bologna Outdoor tournament that season, beating world number 27 Ronald Agenor in the quarter-finals. Dimitri Poliakov
Dimitri Poliakov (born 19 January 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Ukraine. Career Poliakov, a clay court specialist and the Soviet singles champion in 1990, had his breakthrough year in 1991, when he won the Yugoslavia Open, an ATP Tour event. This saw him break into the top 100 for the first time. He was also runner-up in the Austrian Open, with partner Pablo Arraya. These would be the only two ATP Tour finals that he reached during his career. In 1993 he made it into the semi-finals of the Kremlin Cup, as qualifier. Radomír Vašek (born 23 September 1972) is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. Career Vašek was the Czechoslovak national Under-18s tennis champion in 1990, the same year he turned professional.
