Czechoslovak First League
The Czechoslovak First League (, ) was the premier football (soccer), football league in the Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1993, with the exception of World War II. Czechoslovakia was occupied by German forces who formed Gauliga Sudetenland and Gauliga Böhmen und Mähren leagues on occupied territories. Until the 1934-35 season, no teams from Slovakia participated in the league. Czechs were allowed to run their own league in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, while Slovaks were granted their own independent Slovak State and created their own league. After the World War II the league was recreated. Description The league was dominated by clubs from Prague with Sparta Prague winning 19 titles, Dukla Prague 11 and Slavia Prague 9. The attendance record for the league was set on 4 September 1965, when 50,105 spectators attended a match between rivals Sparta and Slavia in Prague. Bohemians 1905
Bohemians Praha 1905, commonly known as Bohemka or Bohemians Prague, is a professional association football, football club based in Vršovice, Prague, Czech Republic. The club competes in the Czech First League, Fortuna Liga, the top division in the Czech Republic football league system. Founded in 1905 as AFK Vršovice, the club won the 1982–83 Czechoslovak First League, its only league championship. Its colours are green and white. The best-known player from Bohemians' history is Antonín Panenka, who is now the club chairman. Bohemians' mascot is a kangaroo, the legacy of a 1927 tour of Australia. Radek Drulák
Radek Drulák (born 12 January 1962) is a Czech former football player. A forward, Drulák twice finished top scorer of the Czech First League, as well as once in the German 2. Bundesliga. Drulák represented his country 19 times and participated in UEFA Euro 1996 where the Czechs won a silver medal. Club career Drulák started his professional career in the Czechoslovak First League, playing for RH Cheb between 1981 and 1987. He then played for Sigma Olomouc from the 1987–88 season, scoring a hat trick four times, as well as scoring four in another game. Between December 1990 and June 1994, Drulák had a spell abroad, playing for German clubs VfB Oldenburg and Chemnitzer FC. During this time, he became the leading goalscorer of the 2. Stanislav Griga
Stanislav Griga (born 4 November 1961) is a Slovak football manager and a former player. He played 34 matches for Czechoslovakia and scored eight goals. Playing career As a player of AC Sparta Prague, Griga played at the 1983 European Super Cup against Real Madrid and was praised by then-coach Alfredo Di Stefano for his performance. He participated at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, and had a headed goal controversially disallowed for offside in a first-round game against Italy at Stadio Olimpico. Coaching career Griga was appointed coach of Sparta Prague in October 2005. He stayed with the club until August 2006, finishing with a record of twelve wins, seven draws, and eight losses in his 27 games in charge. On 26 April 2012, Griga was named as joint coach of the Slovakia national team with Michal Hipp, who has served as interim coach since January that year. Václav Daněk
Václav Daněk (born 22 December 1960) is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a forward. He played 22 matches for Czechoslovakia and scored nine goals. At club level in total, Daněk scored 197 league goals in 402 games. Club career Daněk scored the first goal on his debut for Baník Ostrava in a 6–0 victory against Orduspor at the 1979–80 UEFA Cup. This witnessed the golden era in the club's history, contributing to two Czechoslovak First League championships. International career After the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Jozef Vengloš was replaced by Milan Máčala, who gave Daněk his full confidence, making him the team's new standard bearer and first pick-up choice for the attack. MŠK Žilina () is a Slovak football club based in the town of Žilina, that is playing in the Slovak First Football League. Since the league inception in 1993, the club has won 7 titles and comes second in All-time table that makes them one of the most successful teams in the competition. MFK Vítkovice
MFK Vítkovice is a football club from Vítkovice, Ostrava, Czech Republic. It was founded in 1919 as FC Vítkovice, announced bankruptcy in 2011 and transformed to MFK Vítkovice. The club won the Czechoslovak First League in the 1985–86 season. The club has always been somewhat overshadowed by the town's main team FC Baník Ostrava. The teams have a mutual rivalry, as Baník is based in the Silesian part of the city, while Vítkovice are located in the Moravian part of Ostrava. FK Hvězda Cheb is a Czech football club, playing in the town of Cheb. The club was founded in 1951 and refounded in 2001 after a bankruptcy in 1996. The club played for 13 consecutive seasons in the Czechoslovak First League between 1979 and 1992, and played three seasons in the Czech First League, finishing fourth in the 1993–94 season. The club played in the third-tier Bohemian Football League between 2006 and 2008. After the 2007–08 season the club announced it would not take part in the following season's competition due to financial difficulties. It currently plays in the Czech Fourth Division. FC Spartak Trnava () is a professional Football club (association football), football club based in Trnava, Slovakia. SK Sigma Olomouc is a Czech professional football club based in the city of Olomouc. The club currently competes in the Czech First League, the first tier of Czech football. FC Nitra is a Slovak association football club, playing in the town of Nitra. Established in 1909, FC Nitra is one of the oldest football clubs in Slovakia.
