1976–77 Division 1 Season (Swedish Ice Hockey)
1976–77 was the second season that Division 1 operated as the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden, below the top-flight Elitserien (now the SHL). Division 1 was divided into four starting groups, based on geography. The top four teams in the group would continue to the playoffs to determine which clubs would participate in the qualifier for promotion to Elitserien. The bottom two/three teams in each group were relegated to Division 2 for the 1977–78 season. Division 1 (Swedish Ice Hockey)
Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. As of the 2015–16 Hockeyettan season, 2015–16 season, the league consists of 39 teams divided geographically into four groups. Hockeyettan operates a system of promotion and relegation with HockeyAllsvenskan and Division 2 (Swedish ice hockey), Division 2. From 1944 to 1975, Division I was the highest league in the Swedish ice hockey system, but with the creation of Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien (now the SHL) in 1975, it became the second tier. Division I was further relegated to third-tier status in 1999 as HockeyAllsvenskan was spun off into a standalone league, but was frequently written as "Division 1" on the Internet, as it was pronounced "Division One". Swedish Hockey League
The Swedish Hockey League (SHL; ) is a professional ice hockey league in Sweden and the highest level of the ice hockey in Sweden, Swedish ice hockey system. The league currently consists of 14 teams. Mora IK
Mora IK (or Mora Ishockeyklubb) is a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Mora in northern Dalarna. After failing the 2019 SHL qualifiers, Mora has been relegated for play in the second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan. Mora has previously played 25 seasons in the top tier, including four seasons in Elitserien (as the SHL was called at the time). The team has reached the finals of the Swedish Championships only once, in 1950, a match which they lost 7–2 to Djurgårdens IF. KB Karlskoga FF is a Swedish football club located in Karlskoga. The club was founded in 1963 following the merger of IFK Bofors and Karlskoga IF. KB means Karlskoga/Bofors. Background Since their foundation in 1963 KB Karlskoga FF has participated mainly in the middle and lower divisions of the Swedish football league system. Östersunds IK
Östersunds IK is a Sweden, Swedish professional ice hockey club from Östersund. The club was founded in 1965 and has played 21 seasons in Sweden's second-tier hockey league. In 2003, the club transferred its A-team to Jämtland Hockey and played three years under that name while Östersunds IK was left with only its youth hockey programs. Then in 2006, Östersunds IK merged with Brunflo IK and took over Jämtland Hockey's position in Division 1. On 29 April 2022, the club was promoted to the HockeyAllsvenskan, the current second tier of Swedish ice hockey, for the first time, after winning the Hockeyettan playoffs. Piteå IF
Piteå Idrottsförening (), commonly known as Piteå IF (), is a Swedish football club located in Piteå that currently competes in Sweden's top-division women's league, Damallsvenskan, which it won in 2018. History The sports club Piteå IF was formed on 24 May 1918 but did not take up men's football until 1920 when they merged with IFK Piteå, who then dissolved. The women's team was founded in 1985. Piteå IF's women's department reached the top-tier Damallsvenskan for the first time in 2009. In the 2018 season, they won the Swedish national title for the first time. IFK Luleå
IFK Luleå is a Swedish professional football club formed in 1900, located in Luleå. The club merged with Luleå FF and played under the name Luleå FF/IFK from 1986 to 1989. History IFK Luleå was originally founded in the year 1900, but went dormant after some years. In 1920, the sports club IK Gyltzau won the Norrbotten district championship in bandy and this club was then renamed as a revived IFK Luleå, which continued to play bandy for many years. In 1932 and 1934 the bandy district championship was won again, now under the IFK name. IFK Luleå played one season in the Allsvenskan in 1971, the top-tier of Swedish football, but after a promising start their stay was short-lived as they were relegated at the end of the season.
