Östersunds IK
Östersunds IK is a Sweden, Swedish professional ice hockey club from Östersund. The club was founded in 1965 and has played 21 seasons in Sweden's second-tier hockey league. In 2003, the club transferred its A-team to Jämtland Hockey and played three years under that name while Östersunds IK was left with only its youth hockey programs. Then in 2006, Östersunds IK merged with Brunflo IK and took over Jämtland Hockey's position in Division 1. On 29 April 2022, the club was promoted to the HockeyAllsvenskan, the current second tier of Swedish ice hockey, for the first time, after winning the Hockeyettan playoffs. Östersund (; ) is an Urban areas in Sweden, urban area (Stad (Sweden), city) in Jämtland in northern Sweden. It is the seat of Östersund Municipality and the capital of Jämtland County. Östersund Arena
Östersund Arena is a multi-purpose venue in Östersund, Sweden. The arena can be used for curling, ice hockey, field hockey, figure skating, gymnastics. The arena opened in 2013, and replaced the Z-hallen for the Östersunds IK ice hockey team. Arena The arena accommodates two ice hockey fields, a gymnasium, a restaurant and an artificially frozen outdoor bandy rink. The stadium is located to the north-west of Östersund near to the Östersund Ski Stadium and the Jämtkraft Arena football stadium. The "A Hall" can accommodate 2,700 spectators for ice hockey games, including approximately 2,100 seats. Hockeyettan
Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. As of the 2015–16 season, the league consists of 39 teams divided geographically into four groups. Hockeyettan operates a system of promotion and relegation with HockeyAllsvenskan and Division 2. From 1944 to 1975, Division I was the highest league in the Swedish ice hockey system, but with the creation of Elitserien (now the SHL) in 1975, it became the second tier. Division I was further relegated to third-tier status in 1999 as HockeyAllsvenskan was spun off into a standalone league, but was frequently written as "Division 1" on the Internet, as it was pronounced "Division One". 2022–23 HockeyAllsvenskan Season
The 2022–23 HockeyAllsvenskan season was the 18th season of HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest professional ice hockey league in Sweden. The season consisted of 14 teams playing a regular season in which each team played each other team four times—twice at home and twice away. The regular season was followed by a series of promotion and relegation tournaments, with the teams finishing first through tenth participating in promotion playoffs, and those finishing thirteenth and fourteenth forced to requalify to avoid relegation to Hockeyettan. For the 2022–23 season, there were four team movements. HV71 was promoted to the SHL as reigning 2022 HockeyAllsvenskan champions. IF Troja-Ljungby returned to Hockeyettan after one season in Allsvenskan.
