Steve Smith (footballer, Born 1899)
Stephen Smith (20 February 1899 – 27 December 1994) was a Scottish association football goalkeeper who began his career in the United States and ended it with Aberdeen. In 1921, Smith joined Thistle, a team in the Association Football League, an ethnically British league in Chicago. A year later, he was with the All Scots in the same league. At the time, Chicago teams would tour during the off-season and Smith came to the attention of the Brooklyn Wanderers of the American Soccer League. They signed him for the 1923–24 season, but he saw time in only nine games. He became the regular starter the next season, a position he held for much of the next five years. Over the course of his career with the Wanderers, he played 246 league, 11 National Challenge Cup and 12 League Cup games. In 1930, Smith returned to his native Scotland and joined Aberdeen F.C. Archie Stark
Archibald McPherson Stark (December 21, 1897 – May 27, 1985) was a soccer player who became the dominant player in U.S. leagues during the 1920s and early 1930s. He spent nine seasons in the National Association Football League and another twelve in the American Soccer League. He also earned two caps, scoring five goals, as a member of the U.S. national team. He holds the U.S. single-season scoring record with 67 goals (including eight hat-tricks) scored during the 1924–25 season which is the current World Record. He was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1950. Mike McLeavy
Michael McLeavy (born 22 July 1900) was a Scottish footballer who spent most of his career in the American Soccer League. In 1921, McLeavy joined Falkirk; he moved to Kilmarnock in 1922 but played only two league games, then played for Bo'ness and Vale of Leven before leaving Scotland for the United States in 1923. When McLeavy arrived, he signed with J&P Coats of the American Soccer League. In 1924, he began the season with J&P Coats, but moved to Providence twelve games into the season. The Newark Skeeters was an American soccer club based in Newark, New Jersey and was a member of the American Soccer League and the Eastern Soccer League. New York Giants (soccer)
New York Giants was a name used by three different New York City soccer teams. Two of these teams were associated with the New York Giants baseball franchise. The first team that used the name played in the American League of Professional Football in 1894. The second team played in the American Soccer League between 1923 and 1930 while the third team played in the same league between 1930 and 1932. The two Giants of the ASL were involved in a confusing name change. In 1930 after the original ASL Giants changed their name to New York Soccer Club, a rival team, the New York Nationals then changed their name to the Giants. One player, Davey Brown actually transferred from the original Giants to the Nationals, in effect moving from the Giants to the Giants.
